Uhhhhhhhh....

Wow I don't know what to say about this video....we were thinking about doing that too but I couldn't even sit through 5 mins! What a JOKE!!! I could do that! Hell to the NO! I agree...DJ it is! Who are you going through? I wonder where they were for this? I am trying to figure out where I want to reception. MP sent some pics, but its hard to really see what they would look like! We want to have a slideshow too so we would need a screen/projector and a place to set that up! I need to print out what Katie sent me. The way it looks on the computer is WAY confusing!

So I have been in contact with Katie from Zuniga/Deco Cancun and she is super nice and super super helpful.  Anyway, FI and I were interested in having some sort of entertainment and was thinking of fire dancers.  However; after the video that Katie sent, we are going to save the $500 and spend it on the DJ.  We decided this because the firedancers were not what we expected and after 5 minutes of watching the clip we both looked at each other and said we will pass.  Here is a clip if interested http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JA_32Oi2QRw

I'm trying to figure out HOW to negotiate and WHO to negotiate with! We have a TA who did give us slightly cheaper rates but not much. Apparently Feb is "peak"...which I thought was strange since it is before spring breaks and what not. I guess Vday is peak. I don't know if I posted the rates on here earlier but this is what my TA quoted me:

Rates below apply to Moon Palace quoted "per person per night" and include all taxes/fees, valid for stays January 4 - April 14, 2012:

Deluxe Resort View:  $214.00 per person based on double / $392.00 per night single / $206.00 per person triple / $197.00 per person quad
Superior Deluxe Garden View*:  $238.00 per person based on double / $440.00 per night single / $229.00 per night triple / $218.00 per person quad
Superior Deluxe Ocean View:   $250.00 per person based on double / $464.00 per night single / $242.00 per night triple / $230.00 per person quad
Superior Deluxe Ocean Front:  $256.00 per person based on double / $476.00 per night single (maximum occupancy 2 Adults)
Concierge Level:  $272.00 per person based on double / $506.00 per night single (maximum occupancy 2 Adults)
Children 4-17 years pay $52.00 per night.  Child rate applies only when child shares room with 2 or more adults

I'm still trying to figure out how to get around the ridiculous deposit we are supposed to put down to hold a block of rooms ($2,050). We will see!!!!

We are going through DJ Mannia!  Katie stated that the dancers were at Moon Palace but I'm not sure where.  That's a good question to ask.  I sent her and email so I will follow-up with that question when she responds.  We expect to have 50+ people so we are looking at the Terraza Mar aka Moon Grand.  It holds 400 so I asked Katie if they have provided services there and if she could forward pictures.

I am going to go with DJ Mannia if we decide to do the DJ - his price is $990.00 for 4 hours I think (maybe 3). I have heard such good reviews on him so I think that's a safe way to go!

I tried to contact Deco Cancun but could not find a Katie on there. Where did you find her e-mail? I contacted someone else, but no response yet.

I really want it decorated like the Amethyst package - so pretty! Any idea how much that costs?

I have decided against the room block - it seems more expensive in the end and I can't afford the deposit! I think I will just end up paying for my reception, but the price is not too bad, so its okay :)

I didn't have Katie's email either.  I ended up sending a message to David but Katie responded.  She sent me an spreedsheet with info on it, however; it doesn't have about the wedding packages only ideas for lounges.  Things that I asked for specificially in my email.  If you just sent  an email today, I bet by Monday you will have a response from Katie (I don't know if they work weekends).

You are very welcome!!  I'm totally thankful for Katie from Deco, she really doesn't realize how much she saved us the extra $$.

Ladies,

I was interested in Maracas to be used at the reception.  To double as place cards and "shake to see the bride and groom kiss"  Mischka Designs are so beautiful but the per item cost was a little expensive (a price I was willing to pay) but the cost of shipping was crazy (not her fault of course).  So with that said, I purchased 3 colors from Amols.  They cost only $2.95 per pair and if you buy 12 or more pair they are only $1.95 (not bad right).  And to go even further, I purchased these on Tuesday and received them on Friday.  The colors I ordered were Pink/Fuchsia, Light Blue/Turquoise and Bright Blue/A shade or two lighter than navy.  The quality is very good for the money, however; I'm not in awe like I was Mischka's.  So, after all of this, I may put the maracas idea on the back burner and continue to plan everything else.  Hope this pic and info help others.

I like them! I also like that you would do a combo place card holder/favor/shake to see B & G kiss!! cute!

I was considering doing maracas for a favor as well, I wanted to do something Mexican. Not too sure though...I think I may do personalized shot glasses and have them filled with tequila for everyone to do a shot together! haha.. But there's still lots of time to decide.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
