Hi everyone!  I'm baaacccck!!!!!  I just got home late last night and I just want to share that I had the most AMAZING time at MP and everything went perfect!  I loved every single minute of it and none of our guests had any major complaints.  I am going to put together a review soon and try to add in all of the pics I have so far.  It will be a few weeks until I get the professional ones back from Del Sol.

Just a few quick comments:

Our group was already booked at the Nizuc so I can't say anything about the construction in regards to rooms at the Sunrise, but I had my reception in the ballroom at the Sunrise and there was absolutely no problem at all.  I only saw one little area on the main floor under construction and we went to the club every night and a lot of the guys went to the arcade and didn't even notice it.  It was a little quieter over there than I think it normally would have been but the construction thankfully wasn't an issue for our group.

I had Valeria as my on site coordinator and she was WONDERFUL!  If you get her you will be so lucky!  She added extra little details to each event and was present from the very begining up until the very last minute.  I had a very hard time with the wedding planner they give you prior to your arrival and for a lot of things, started from square one with Valeria, so it was very refreshing how on top of things she was.

Each night we were given a little treat in our room ranging from a white rose, to chocolate covered strawberries, happy wedding cake, happy honeymoon cake, and bottles of champagne.  It was definitely a nice touch and made us feel special.

As for the room refund for reaching the unlimited events status, I added some extra things at the last minute to my events, I upgraded the dance foor and ended up getting the ipod hook up for the welcome dinner, and those charges were taken off from the amount I should receive back for my room.  The remaining balance they said I should get by wire in about 4-6 weeks.

Hi ladies, I spoke with my wedding Cancun rep who confirmed the construction in Sunrise, not only in the lobby and halls but also part of the pool in Sunrise will be under construction too. At this time I have put in requests to have all my guests moved and most were but a few guest have to remain on the sunrise side unfortunatly :(

They must not have started the pool construction yet, but the walk to Nizuc isn't bad at all and the place is so huge there is plenty of places to go to not be around it.

A couple other things that I'm randomly thinking about from the trip is the beach was red flagged almost the entire week so everyone stayed at the pools the whole time.

Also,

I really recommend getting $100 or some amount of money in $1 dollar bills to give for tips.  Even though tips are already paid for a lot of the workers there expect/appreciate tips.  It doesn't need to be the normal 18-20% but a couple dollars at the restaurants and a dollar here and there for drinks really does a long way in terms of service.  I already knew this ahead of time so I brought plenty, but not everyone of my guests knew and a few people who ordered late night room service said the delivery guy kinda lingered around a little too long waiting for a tip.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
