OMG I have been harrassing my TA to try and get something in writing about this! From my standpoint, if you book something during a specific promotion, that promotion and all of its fine print should appy....even if the government is instituting this tax, maybe it is only for reservations made AFTER April 2012? Is there ANY way either of you would be willing to email me that sheet you have saying we wouldn't be charged the tax?! [email protected] I'd REALLY appreciate it!!!

Thanks Speckels. I know things will probably go by smoothly once I get there and talk to the actual onsite coordinator. Well, at least I hope so lol.

Rpc51, I had three people try to contact Renee to get her to start helping me for over a month, then less than 2 months before the wedding she contacts me and tells me we have to hurry and plan everything, making it seem like it was MY fault she hadn't contacted me and that nothing was done. She was really nice on the phone and what not, but she often turns around and changes what she says, and then gets the wrong information from people and expects you to keep track of what she has been saying. I would recommend asking for someone else.

That is awful!  I'm sorry you are dealing with that.  Are you far away from hitting the unlimited?  Maybe if you are off by a little there is something you can do if you have it in writing from the coordinator that she wrote you did reach the goal.  I don't know.    I wouldn't give up on planning, this is your day!  I totally kept emailing my coordinator and copying every other coordinators email that I could get my hands on in order to get responses.  It's sad to say, but that did the trick.  I hate that you really can't escalate to a manager, since there is no way to find out who they are.

I'm going through something similar. I did not realize the wedding group amenities only apply if your guests all book with the same travel agent. So half my guests booked with the TA and the other half directly with the hotel. Basically I'm not getting any "wedding amenities" and have to pay for my reception. If my wedding was not a few weeks away I'd have told this resort I was canceling. It's very disappointing.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
