Glad you had an amazing time and everything was taken care of once you got there!

I do not believe that is correct.  Its a tax imposed by the actual government.  I honestly think the resorts hands are tied on it.

All of our excursions....including golf, spa and tours, were all subject to the 11% tax.

We booked back in early 2011, and we paid the 11% tax on everything we used the credits on.....including room upgrades.

Its possible you may be able to get around paying the 11% tax, I'm honestly not sure, but I would be prepared to pay the tax on any vacation dollars (resort credits) you plan on spending.

Hey ladies!  Here is my experience.  Of course, as with everything else, they change their answer for everyone...

We all booked in January and so we did not pay the 11% tax.  HOWEVER, because my brother changed his room assignment in April (broke up with the GF whose was going to be rooming with him and joined rooms with my other brother) they decided to charge him the 11% tax.  That was one thing we had to "prove" to so called "guest relations".  I don't understand why they could just take our word for it, considering everyone else in our 30+ group booked at the same time.  What happened to the customer is always right?!?

Bottom line, if you want to try to get away without the 11% tax, come with that agreed in writing!

Other examples of extras fees include... when golfing, not only do they charge you for clubs but way overpriced balls.  FI golfed once with a group of 6 and he paid $50 in golf balls.  Also know that if you make hair appointments for you women and they later decide not to have their hair done you must cancel that appointment a week in advance.  I made every lady coming an appointment, thinking they could cancel later.  Once I found that out I canceled them, and it was a week or more in advance.  However, that memo never got sent from the wedding department to the salon.  So when we got there and those in my group who we canceled tried to make massage appt they tried to charge them.  That was another "prove it" moment (again, what happened to trusting the customer, or at least asking your own employees to look that info up, instead of those paying to have a vacation who is using up precious HOURS! arguing with, again, "guest relations")

Hi everyone, does anyone know how far the gazebos are from each other? Would it be possible to have the ceremony at one gazebo and the reception at another or is this is bad idea?? Also if anyone has pics of Zuniga's reception setups, can you post them plz. Thanks so much.

So.. I pretty much just "broke up" with my coordinator Renee. She lied and told me I had enough room nights to get the unlimited events, then turns around and tells me I only have enough for the cocktail hour and that I have to pay for the reception. So I just emailed her back to give me the cocktail hour, book my dinner and tat I willnot pay for anything, such and vendor fees, until I get there. Also that 9 months of terrible communication and stress was enough and I didnt want to deal with the planning anymore.... I am so tired of them. I am just going to get Marvin to bring my flowers, book my outside photographer that is a million times better than the ones hey have and wing it when I get to the resort. I am done. Done with the bull@?$! ... Ughhh Sorry, just had to vent with people that understand... They make me wish I would have booked else where.

Thanks Speckels. I know things will probably go by smoothly once I get there and talk to the actual onsite coordinator. Well, at least I hope so lol.

Rpc51, I had three people try to contact Renee to get her to start helping me for over a month, then less than 2 months before the wedding she contacts me and tells me we have to hurry and plan everything, making it seem like it was MY fault she hadn't contacted me and that nothing was done. She was really nice on the phone and what not, but she often turns around and changes what she says, and then gets the wrong information from people and expects you to keep track of what she has been saying. I would recommend asking for someone else.

I have Daniela ocampo morales ([email protected]) she has been excellent! She contacted me on August 3 to start working on our November 10 wedding. She has answered all of our questions and replies to emails in a timely manner, she even gets back to me on weekends. The only problems I have had have been with reservations. Our link only worked for about a month so my guests had to book through michelle farinas in Miami, then they did away with that office and NEVER told me, I found out via a guest who emailed her for reservations.. All of our guests then had to book through random people, and all the phone numbers they gave us would be answered in spanish or would be put on hold and forgotten about. the only advice I can give any new brides is to definitely go through a travel agent, it will reduce a ton of stress, and eliminate the tons of calls, emails and confusion from your guests. I have had to call palace resorts so much that some of the wedding planners know me now. The next 7 weeks aren't going to go by fast enough, I can't wait for our planning to be over!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
