Great, just what I wanted to hear!!!! Bring lots of ones and tip everyone- easy enough!!

I'll prewarn everyone that the ATM only gives Pesos and to bring small bills!! Thanks again and love your new profile pic! :)

If you are having trouble waiting on drinks, toss a couple $1's on the pool side servers tray, and you will not even have to ask for another drink. American dollars spend just as well in Mexico, probably even better tbh. I think the workers prefer the USD as its exchange rate is always getting better.
Word of warning:
1) if you make purchases in Mexico using USD, they are required to provide you will your change in pesos. So bring a lot of smaller bills to avoid acquiring a ton of extra pesos.
2) the ATM machines on the property only give out pesos. We had a bunch of guests who were not able to locate an ATM that dispensed US Dollars.
3) if you get stuck with a bunch of pesos at the end of the week, give them out as tips, or there is a window at the Cancun airport to exchange them.
4) the people at the font desk will sometimes be able to break a $20 bill USD for you if you need it, but don't count on it.

Did your dj friend bring music with him or did you go off of what PSAV had?? I'm just curious if I should bring some of our music as well
We actually sat down and planned the entire playlist from pre-ceremony music to the very last song of the night at the reception. We then gave that list to our DJ friend, who came as a guest and a friend, but also happens to run a very successful wedding DJ business here in Myrtle Beach. He put our entire playlist on both his iPod and a couple CD's (just in case). He brought that stuff with him and played our entire playlist for us. I would suggest bringing an iPod with all the music you like on it, and let the PSAV guy work off of that. They can plug it right in and play the music you selected.

I hope I'm the only one having to deal with this for all you ladies sakes' but I thought I would share just in case....

So my Cancun lady finally emailed me the things she told me she would email me when we spoke on the phone 2 weeks ago.  She tried to tell me on the phone that I was limited to the new promotions- the 3 hour max unlimited function per day.  (I booked on Feb 7th, the promotion changed March 1st, I did not ever sign a contract as they told me they did away with contracts I'm guessing somewhere in Early 2012- I have a group contract with Funjet through my TA which confirms my group promotions as the originail unlimited events for unlimited hours AND I have emails with Janessa- my Miami contact telling me that I still got the old benefits).  So I told her this on the phone and she said to send her what I had and she would take a look, well a week and a half went by and I still hadn't heard anything so I emailed her Monday night and she finally responded last night and told me there had been miscommunication before and I only get the new promotion with the 3 hour max---- OH hell no-- you just flipped on Bridezilla and watch out.  I was quite nice in the email because I know it's not her fault, she's just doing what she is told, but really?! I have proof- so I said in the email (which I copied my TA in) and told her if she did not honor the promotion I would get my TA and Funjet involved until this was settled....OMG I'm so angry right now.... So I just had to vent and hope no one else is going through this and I hope we get it settled soon or there will be lots of drinking this weekend, haha. angry.gif

I got an email from Ocean Photo Studio as well this week. At the bottom of the email it had the Smile Market logo, so I'm guessing it's just a subsidiary or sister company or something. Either way, I'm not using them. Del Sol all the way!

You know I booked the wedding in December, and I have no clue what my contract stated...I recently was told by my coordinator that the private events were 3 hours and the extra hour fees were $60 or $80 per table (can't remember off hand) per hour.  I just assumed that's what my contract stated but now I'm definitely going to go back and read it!!!

I am looking into booking my DJ. PSAV or JSAV. Anyone have any comments or recommendations? JSAV is about $200 more expensive for the exact same thing and I am wondering if they are a better choice for any reason.

Also, how far ahead did everyone book their DJ and audio?

Do you have an email for PSAV?  I sent them and JSAV an inquiry and only JSAV got back to me.  I want to compare their rates.  The JSAV quote mainly explained the equipment they will provide and hardly anything about the DJ services except that there is one.  Does anyone know what the DJ Services included?  Do they provide any props, lighting, etc?  Do we need to provide them with a CD or IPOD to play?

Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
