Moon Palace 2012 Brides

Recommended Posts

I'm not entirely sure why anyone would think Miami "may mess" anything up. I'd much rather speak to them, as they know proper English, and have a way better turn around with their response time. I had a terrible time with my coordinator on site, Lily. My planner in Miami, Joannis, has even sent me follow up messages to see how everything went, I'm planning on sending her photos soon!
Lol. Joined today? First 2 posts are defending the palace resorts Miami office? Certainly looks like you are actually a part of the Miami office and are on here attempting to make it seem like they are better than they are. And you just happened to have a contract line stating payments must be paid in full handy to post here in your 2nd ever post? Lol. Quite suspicious. A good number of the brides on this forum, both past brides and future brides, have had real issues with the people in the Miami offices. They may speak the language better, but the information they give out to each bride varies so widely on a case by case basis and a good portion is just completely incorrect. Their information is vague and wrong. They tell you some things that turn out to be untrue once you speak to the coordinators at Moon Palace. Also, the only Credit Card fraud cases that have been discussed here are issues on the end of the Miami offices, not the Moon Palace offices. The fraudulent charges were made IN MIAMI shortly after the Miami offices took credit card info from brides. They had nothing to do with fraudulent charges in Mexico. Sorry, but the fact that you joined this forum today, and your first 2 posts are clearly overly defensive about the Miami offices are very very very suspicious. I'd be willing to wager my wedding deposit that you actually work for palace resorts in the Miami office and are here on this forum working on "spin-control". I'm not buying it. Sorry.

I think everything is messed up because this is what Joannis told me :

"As to regards for Zuniga and PSAV, I am going to wait until closer to the day to get an approved quote, and once I do I will send it to you.[Joannis Rodon]  As long as you send me the signed copies, we can process payment for that and add it to your proposal so that everything is ordered for you in time, that is fine."

"All proposals are to be finalized 30 days prior to your arrival." (Not 45 days? as it says below)

Then she said this she I cancelled my civil wedding to a symbolic wedding "I suggest using that money from the civil ceremony fee towards extras (such as what youâ€ll be purchasing from Katie), as the refund would take quite long for you to receive this back. "

Every things to be jumbled up because I have a $300 credit on my room from the civil wedding cancellation and then I have to pay for the outside vendor services before hand? Will my $300 be discounted even though the wedding money and the room money are handled by different people? I find this to be very sketchy. And well, PSAV is actually a well known international company and I would rather pay THEM myself than pay the wedding department. The proposal that I get from the vendors bind ME and the vendors, so why does the wedding department get involved? Hearing how so many people had fraudulent charges on their cards from the resort, I rather just pay the vendors or wait until I get to the resort. I trust the resort more than the wedding department in Miami because they keep on slipping up. I think I am just going to go with the flow and talk to the vendors themselves and wait until I can get in contact with my onsite coordinators who deal with weddings every day.

The process, as explained to myself was that the wedding is turned over to the coordinator once everything is finalized. I'd much rather trust someone in America than someone in a third world country...all of the fraud has been found to be routed from there, anyway, as payments post from the resort once the planner sends it for processing. Under the proposal that Joannis sent me, it does state:

* Items listed are not confirmed until FULL payment has been made on each item.

* Final payment is due 45 days prior to arrival. Any items purchased within 45 days of arrival are subject to availability

Policies may have changed since the new collections are out now, and they do have a bit of a mess with that since a lot of them are not available when they are stated to be on the site. This is the resort's fault of course, though. I had a wonderful time, and nothing has come back to haunt me afterwards either. My opinion is, if I can't trust someone from a company with my money, I wouldn't want to have something as important as my wedding to be handled by the company in general. I had generosity from both Joannis and Janina, and I would recommend either of them to future brides that have an open mind.

Hey ladies I'm back from our wonderful wedding/honeymoon!!  Lots to share, but I also have a lot of other stuff to do to catch up on my life... I promise I will do a resort review but it may take me some time.  Also, I have lots of stuff for sale... so I will need to post those as well!

Anyways to echo past brides- the wedding day was amazing!! My on-site wedding coordinator (Daniela) was phenomenal!  A few bumps in the beginning, and some issues with Moon Palace but all in all it was the wedding of our dreams :)

If you have any specific questions for me please PM me, as I'm going to be too busy in the next week or two to look at this forum.  I will gladly answer questions PMed to me!!  And I'll post pictures when I get a second, otherwise there are lots on facebook!

We are leaving tomorrow for Moon Palace!! Can't wait!!

I definitely plan on doing a very indepth review when I get back.  mpweddingplan, I totally agree with you which was way I totally ignored her comment. It seems to me that Moon Palace staff seem so much more competent than their Miami counterparts.  The Palace Resorts really need to do some investigation and staff purging in that sector.  We'll see how it goes and I will let you know my experience when I get back. I am not a stranger to writing formal complaints when necessary.

In response to your entry I can only suggest that people speak as they find the situation and my experience of Joannis and the Miami office has been shocking. The fraud aside which now thankfully has bypassed any Miami investigation or rather lack of it is being dealt with at a management level elsewhere. We booked and paid our deposit for our wedding and secured our time over one year ago and when we eventually got in contact with Joannis to secure our ceremony location we were told this wasn't available and to get the location we wanted we would have to change our time until 4pm. Reluctantly we did this and rearranged hairdressing appointments, horse and carriage and photographer. Joannis sent the confirmation email. Two weeks ago Zaray got in touch to introduce herself but she didn't have 4pm as the time for the wedding. When we pointed out this had been changed and approved by Joannis she said there was no way we could get married at 4pm as this time slot was already booked. She suggested a 6pm wedding which we turned down and now we are getting married at 3pm at the location we first asked for! So pardon me if I have no faith in Joannis or the Miami office. I am sure there are people who have a good experience however the overwhelming experience of most people on this forum and I have read every page over the last year is that they are poor.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
