Moon Palace 2012 Brides

Recommended Posts

We're getting close, and now know that our total will be just under 35, and the complimentary package includes a dinner reservation for 35 or less (it seems to have changed to 30, but our contract says 35, I assume they will honor that?). So we may try and save a bunch of money and have the reception as a dinner reservation. I know that I have read in here reviews and info from those who did it, but gosh, the information overload here is crazy and I don't have a clue where to start looking! So can anyone share their experiences with having a reception at one of the restaurants? How did it feel? How was the setup (private, semi-private, in the middle of a bunch of strangers, etc)? Restaurants that are particularly good for this, or particularly bad? I assume choosing this option means no DJ, music, or dancing? Does that mean no "first dance" or the like? PS I always meant to get my FI on here, so I could bow out as the token BDW male ;), but it seems y'all are stuck with me, because this place would be way too overwhelming for her, never having been on a forum before.
Welcome! I wish I could my husband involved in any way. He said he just wants to show up, I'm the planner in this family!

And one last question for now (amazing how you get close and all the questions start popping up): Did anyone use a babysitter at Moon Palace? The concierge has referred us to www.cancunnannyservice.com which provides babysitting services to the resort, but it's tough to let a complete stranger, in a foreign country no less, watch your toddler. Any experiences?

Thanks CurlyBride! Let me tell you though this has been the craziest first week of marriage! Especially since we are keeping things on the DL he's been at home working & staying there while I have been at my house and packing and finishing up Mexico wedding stuff. Kinda stinks to be married yet not even in the same town. But on the upside we only have a week and a half to go before we are in Mexico!

Congrats mrsjdh2b!!!!

Wish you a lifetime of happiness and an amazing wedding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

My advice is just keep sending emails with all your questions, cc both of them and hopefully one of them will respond soon.

Glad to hear that Marvin finally got back with you and you have worked it out. I liked the fact that Cherry Blossom was cheap but I didn't have a good feeling about them being able to deliver there. We are having Marvin bring our flowers between 1-2 for our 5pm wedding. Gives them a little leeway on time but should be there before the WC comes to get you which is like 30 mins before the wedding. Your countdown is definitely speeding up!

Oh, some background on the flower situation. Marvin finally did get in contact with me.  I had been speaking with Cherry Blossom who were super nice and accommodating and got back to me in a timely manner.  Their prices are also way cheaper than Marvin's.  BUT, they did suggest a get I pay the outside vendor fee just in case so they could get into the resort, or they would try to deliver in a gift box, but still suggested I pay the outside vendor fee.  Since I have heard the outside vendor fee is anywhere from $100-$500, it just seems so risky.  And I don't want to end up with a situation where Cherry Blossom can't get in the gate.  So, I have decided to move forward with Marvin even though it took him like 3 months to get back to me.  He did send me some great pics of what I asked for.  So, there is the update on that.

1.  So, my wedding is at 5pm.  What time do you suggest I have the flowers delivered?  I want them to be fresh, but don't want to cut it too close.  Is a 2:30pm delivery cutting too close? (Assuming he would get there by 3:30pm)

2.  Does anyone know how the day passes work.  I have to get a couple for my photographer, DJ, and a couple of guests staying outside the hotel.  Do they pay that when they get there on the property, or do you pay that up front when meeting with the wedding planner?

Oh, finally got my locations confirmed!!  My travel agent basically had to make some noise to make that happen.  I got the following:

- Welcome Dinner (optional) - El Caribeno

- Welcome Cocktails (optional) - Caribbean Terrace

- Wedding - Tucan Gazebo

- Cocktail Hour - Tucan Terrace

- Reception - Laud Ballroom

Its getting close! Yikes!

Make sure you specify with your WC that your contract states dinner reservation for 35.  Mine tried to pull the 30 people and I had to send her the contract stating 35. And of course we love the BDW groom on here!

Hi,

Our wedding is on the 22 June and Joannis has been the most unhelpful contact ever. The only time she replied promptly was when we requested a few extras to our package which incurred additional costs so within hours she sent an invoice demanding payment. We unfortunately paid this straight away using our credit card and two days later our card was used fraudently for thousands of pounds at various stores near Miami (we live in the UK). She has been difficult about any request we made for our wedding and honestly we are not having a big lavish day. She has only been in contact once since the fraud and that was only responding to our angry e mail and she said she had passed it to her supervisor who eventually got in touch to tell us its not their fault and its never happened to anyone with them before. Thanks to this forum I know that to be a blatent lie.

I really would cancel the whole wedding if other people hadn't paid so much money to make the trip and I live in hope that the other brides who have got married there say the on site wedding co ordinators are totally different from the Miami office.

If they just at least let tou know a contact for the hotel then it would take much of the stress away. x

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
