Your guests can wear anything including shorts and sandals. If you do dinner in a restaurant, you just have to pick the restaurants that don't have a dress code. There are two that I remember for sure that are dressy restaurants, the rest are casual dress codes. Bambu and La Trattoria are both located on the golf course and require long slacks for the men and they ask for closed toe shoes. We did a dinner at Bambu one night and it was very nice! I loved everything there but they are strict on the dress code.....we had two guests that were meeting us there after coming back from a tour they took during the day, and one had on kahki shorts and they wouldn't let him in....I was a little bummed but the guest felt bad for wearing shorts. It worked out though as they allowed them to wait for us in the patio/bar. I would recommend Bambu as a rehearsal dinner or welcome dinner but just be careful everyone has pants to wear.

MP has a filtration system that they rely on heavily.  In addition, they provide bottle water in your rooms and in the restaurants to drink including.  None of us got sick and Hubby and I used the water to brush our teeth daily.  Hope this helps

We also never got sick! They show you they are pouring bottled water in the restaurants plus there is a window where the water filter system is at so you can see it. One of my guests pointed that out to me. They figured it was their way to prove to you that they filter there water. And I even tested it out.......one morning I wasn't thinking and filled my coffee maker with the water from the faucet and drank the coffee and I was fine. But yeah,  like Coconoir has said, they provide you with bottled water in the rooms and also have them at the bars that you can ask for if you want one by the pools.

You totally rock!  Thank you so much!

We had our dinner part of our reception in this restaurant and it was very good. We had picked shrimp cocktail for appetizer, mixed salad, soup of the day which was cream of zucchini (tasted very good, very creamy), main dish you pick two.....we had chicken in pineapple sauce and mahi mahi fish and assorted ice cream for dessert. I thought everything was very good!

Thanks FutureRN2011, I am so glad to hear that the restaurant is good.  Whew!!  Now, if I could just get a confirmation from your pal Kalena :-)

And I am glad to hear that you had a great experience with her.  And everyone has come back and said that same thing.  So, even though I am 41 days out with unconfirmed locations for my welcome reception, reception, and rehearsal dinner - I am trying not to worry - LOL!

I have been following this thread for a while. Everyone's ideas and advice have been priceless in the planning process. I saw some of you talking about the reception fees. Coco you mentioned that you were not charged when you got to the resort. My question is did you wait until you got to the resort to pay? Because joannis sent me a bill this week and said I needed to pay before we leave. Should I wait until we get there to see what the wc will include for free?

Oh yay!!! I'm so glad that everything turned out so well for you! I was praying that things would go great while you were there since you had such a difficult time before leaving! Can't wait to see pics and read your review.

As you all may remember, I never heard from my on-site coordinator before we left but come to find out it was because of miscommunication with the Miami office. Kalena was my on-site coordinator and she was amazing!!! She even gave me a special gift on my wedding day to make up for any miscommunication that I experienced with the Miami office. I was beyond happy as she didn't have to give me anything. I was told to keep it a secret because she could get in trouble but lets just say......it was a gift that made me feel like a princess;)

AND LIKE OTHERS HAVE SAID AND I WILL SAY THE SAME.......MOON PALACE IS AMAZING AND THEY MADE MY WEDDING A DAY THAT I WILL NEVER FORGET!!! THEY MADE IT BEAUTIFUL AND IT TURNED OUT A MILLION TIMES BETTER THAN I EXPECTED! DEFINITELY WILL BE GOING BACK FOR OUR ANNIVERSARY!!!!!

Please send me any questions and I can start answering them for you. I will work on my review and post pics as I find time!

~Sarah~

Thanks for the info Coco! I think we all want to get the best deal possible so when things change it sucks for everyone that doesn't get the good stuff. Hopefully everyone can work out deals once they get there.

Anyone using the Caribbean Rooftop for their function, the 10pm rule does not apply, however you must be done by 12.  Our reception was from 7-11 but as the staff was cleaning many of us sat in our lounge area and talked....until about 11:30 or so.

MP changed their unlimited functions times from 3 hours for a reception to 2 (and a total of 3 hours of "free" events per day) a while back (reference their site).  However; I emailed Gretel in the Miami office demanding that MP honor the initial time before the changes and she did...  In addition, we extended an hour without no charge from Valeria (just another reason we gave her an awesome tip)

Here's the thing to remember ladies and hopefully this will take away some stress.

  1. That what may apply to one bride-to-be or past bride may not pertain to you (either good or bad)
  2. That MP staff is very attentive and accommodating and they want nothing more to please YOU!  With that said, your coordinator may otherwise "allow" somethings that others may not in hopes for a good tip.
  3. I was given a one hour extension (original reception time 7-10) for no charge
  4. I was only charge 1 $65 set-up when clearly I had tons of stuff and she should have applied the $65 to each event
  5. I wasn't charge for 1 day pass (although I think this was by accident)

All answers can not come from this site....so nothing should be set-in stone from this format!  Yet request that things are honored and get it in writing but know that your coord maybe very flexible.

LOVE!!!! You were beautiful!! Thanks for the tip about the pier, I so want pics there!

I was a little disappointed that we didnt end up going to a cenote but now that I've seen these pictures I am sooo happy with our decision to stay at the resort. We took photos for hours and it was so much less stress than the wedding photos. Sorry for the bad quality they were saved on my phone and then uploaded here but you get the idea

You do not need to pay until you check out of the resort.  We did not pay anything beforehand so I would not pay anything until you get down there as things can change!  It's probably their way of getting people to commit to the outrageous fees they are asking now!

My wedding is the day after yours and I havent been asked to pay a thing. My TA does all the correspondence with Miami, but you still shouldnt have to pay until check-out.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
