Moon Palace 2012 Brides

Recommended Posts

That is true the front desk is very accommodating. My 3 year old niece couldn't go to the kiddie camp without a bracelet and after some persuasion by my brother they just gave her a bracelet. And the truth is after they cut off our bracelets we never even put them back on and just handed them in when we checked out 2 days later and my stepdaughter took hers off for half of the week because it was purple and she was 10 days from being 18 and they wouldn't let her drink so she walked around with no bracelet also and there was no charge to get another one. So I wouldn't even worry about it. These things work themselves out when you get there. the Moon palace people are so much nicer and better to deal with than Miami.

So, I just got an email from Joannis saying that the reception is only 2 hours and that if I want to extend it, it should be $60/table/hour.

I am having my wedding at 3 because that was the latest time they would give me. So if the ceremony is 1 hour, the cocktail 1 hour, and the reception 2 hours, then I'm done at 6... what should I do??? I have seen all the review pictures and it seems people's receptions run later than 2 hours, does everyone pay the extension fees?? THIS SUCKS :(

A few pictures from our day after session on the beach... Love love love them so far!!! If you are doing a TTD at moon palace make sure you walk down to the pier because it makes for beautiful pictures!! I was a little disappointed that we didnt end up going to a cenote but now that I've seen these pictures I am sooo happy with our decision to stay at the resort. We took photos for hours and it was so much less stress than the wedding photos. Sorry for the bad quality they were saved on my phone and then uploaded here but you get the idea

awesome pics SummerDawn! I want to take some pics on the pier too!

Thanks LadyDi! I will just worry about the whole wristband thing when we get there! :)

I just have to vent...I talked to my TA over my lunch break because our flight prices came out yesterday and they were higher than expected- stupid gas prices! It is going to be $600 for a roundtrip flight from STL to Cancun.  We were hoping for $500, but what can you do?

Anyways- while talking to my TA she informed me that 2 couples cancelled.  One my FI knew about, he just failed to tell me (typical men) and the second I was taken aback by.  The second is a friend and her now fiance (they just got engaged 3 weeks ago) so I know she cancelled because she will be saving money for her wedding next May, which is totally understandable...but don't cancel yesterday and not as much as send me a text message! I just think that is so rude- if you're going to cancel, then just cancel and tell me- it's fine! Guess she won't be attending our girls night this Saturday, haha. So we are down to 39 people plus me and my fiance- which I think under 40 is a good number- less OOT bags to buy, lol!  Sorry, I just needed to vent! :)

Honestly I wouldn't worry about all these extra prices people like Joannis are telling you as they are not set in stone.  I was told about the $60/table/hour by my WC about a week before leaving and I said I wasn't aware of it and it wasn't in my contract so in my meeting down there I was never charged it for my 4 hour reception.  Also I told her I would pay the $65 set up fee for my decorations and thats what I was charged.  There was no arguing or anything- they really want to please you!

Actually my reception ended up being 5 hours since we extended it an hour so I thought I would pass this information along.  We ended up not getting to the reception until after 6:30 when it started at 6 since we were still taking pics (oops! lol) so my WC charged us $180 for the staff for 3 tables (your sweetheart table doe NOT count towards the tables) and $55 for another hour of the iPod setup with PSAV and they just billed it to the room and it worked out great!

I'll be paying the extension fee. I had received paperwork early on that stated the fee, so I was planning on paying extra for my three hour reception. I only have five tables, so it's only $250 (it was $50/hour/table when I signed my contract). I would have paid for even longer but outdoor events aren't allowed past 10. Luckily my reception is at 7pm and we'll just have to find a place to drink and hang out if people want to party past 10pm. Unfortunately for early ceremonies, you're pretty much forced to have an early night. Maybe you guys can pick a cool bar to take everyone to or maybe set up a gathering on the beach after the reception if you don't want to pay the extension fees.

Sorry to hear that Shan0487! You would think it's common courtesy to call you since you are trying to plan a wedding and all... I have a couple looking to cancel as well (my TA gave me a heads up) and I wonder if they are going to even call us and let us know.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
