Moon Palace 2012 Brides

Recommended Posts

Ok, chicas!  I have posted my review.  I tried to do my best, but wanted to get it up quickly.  Send me a PM if you have any questions.  P.S--my wrist is better.  I don't have to wear anything anymore, but I have to start therapy because I can't move it that well now.  :(  At least you can't really tell my right wrist has been casted for like, 2 months in the pictures.  Enjoy!

So syenfn1218, I had my planning meeting today with Juana.  She is nice, but clearly she is new.  She had to put me on hold at least 5 times to answer questions I had.  But, with just about everything she did not know, she was able to find out most of the information.  She did follow up with an email shortly with information that I requested.  They are still confirming my locations which I requested all the way back in October, so I am pretty adament that I get the locations I requested because I defintiely put in my request in ample time.  And because I wanted a gazebo wedding, I switched my wedding from Cancun Palace to Moon Palace just so I can have that, so its not going to be pretty if they tell me otherwise hissyfit.gif

I did learn some things that may be useful, so here goes:

1.  I asked about the restaurants, so attached is a high level menu of all the restaurants.

2.  Basically, I have about 42 or so guests, so any private event is going to cost me $1000.  That basically covers appetizers and open bar.  No decor.  I have 61 room nights.  If I got to the 75, then all of that would be free.

3.  For the cocktail hour, table tops would be provided, but if I wanted any seating, then I would need to purchase through Zuniga

4.  I'm getting married in June, so the Colin Cowie collections were supposed to be available, but they can't promise it so now I need to use Zuniga to design the reception.

5.  Resort credit cannot be used towards videography or photography.

6.  I had a friend that was flying in to DJ for us.  So, I was asking for speaker and system rental and they told me I would basically have to pay for the DJ totally to get access to the equipment.  So, doesnt make sense for me to fly the DJ out and pay him, and still have to pay the total fee for the DJ.

7.  For included bouquet, you can get a combination of lillies and roses in either pink, white, ivory, red, or yellow.

8.  The cake flavor options are as follows:  Vanilla, strawberry, fruit, marble, carrot cake, cheesecake, or lemon.  If ordering a tiered cake, you can mix the tiers.

9.  The Marachi band is $550 and the Mexican Trio is $461.

10.  If you want them to put anything on the chairs for the ceremony (i.e. fans, programs), they charge a $7 per chair fee.

11.  For the ceremony, they will provide a microphone and speakers

12.  For the cocktail hour, they are allowing me to create a signature drink to be served there, and will do that when we are on site.

I'm still waiting on the script for the sybolic ceremony and the procedure for out of town bags.  So, I'll let you know if I find out any more information.  Hope this helps!

Ok, I think that is

I had Beatrice, but never got a chance to have a meeting with her.  I am now assigned Juana.  We have a meeting scheduled for 12:30pm today to go everything (I'm a little over 60 days out) , so I'll let you know if: 1) The meeting even happens 2) And what I think of Juana.  And I do believe that 6pm is a pretty popular time because people are trying to avoid the heat of the day (but mostly for summer weddings).  I originally had 6pm, but changed to 5pm at the photographers advice.  But, I just came from a Mexican wedding that started at 6pm and we were able to get some great daytime shots, but her sunset shots were amazing.  So, I think you might get the best of both worlds with your 6pm time.

pinkie.gif Yay, yay Awesome!  Our room block is at Nizuc which is pretty cool as so many brides are on the Sunrise side so that is will give us a nice break.  The price to upgrade I believe is $300 for resort credits.

I am not terribly concerned,I'd actually rather be in a a different section...I can only imagine my room being sandwiched between my in-laws and my parents shameonyou.gif. I would rather be the one doing the walking than one of my guests!

I just have two questions....

Does anyone know the price to upgrade your room using resort credits? I feel as though many of my guests may do this because of their short stay...

Does anyone have a PDF of the restaurants? I just want to know exactly where each one is located and the cuisine and dress code. I wanted to put it in my welcome packet, I feel like Ive seen it on here someplace.....

I emailed Kalena (my WC) a bunch of questions over a week ago....still havent heard back....oh well ....so not stressing smile124.gif I have surrenderd to the fact I may not know anything until we get there.

I got approval and my refund prior to going... we qualified for the 7 free nights and upgraded room. Which my TA received our $1800 back well over a month or so ago.  If you meet the room nights they already have that on file.

Joannis, and many of the off-site (not in Mexico) coordinators work there.  They are the ones to help you in the initial stages as you do not talk to your On-site (Mexico) coordinator until 90 days but usually less.  They all work for moon palace just located in different locales.

Sweet deal, way to go Shan!  I totally wish they had some extra goodies for 100 room nights.. we are at 105 (some people added on extra days) and it totally feels like I'm giving them extra money (by way of guest) without getting more free stuff LOL  Are you going to do anything extra since you are at 100 nights

Yay, yay, yay... read it.. Thanks so much!

Jamie....hi honey I miss you too!  YAY.... headed out Tuesday morn and so excited.  Had lunch with my flower girl and her family today, as we both were shopping at Nordstroms and ran into each other.  They are so excited and my FG tells everyone she meets "I'm a flower girl in Aunt Chanel's wedding and it's in Mexico."  The saleswoman said where in Mexico? She said, It's just Mexico... LOL  gotta love 5 yr old's.  My shopping minus 1 pair of shorts is done.. so I will pack tomorrow after I get my hair done.

Monday.. 9:00a dentist appt. to rebuild 2 teeth that I apparently grind at night. but with my braces off, teeth whitened and the retainer (ugh) that won't be a problem anymore.  11am dropping off my little Cesar at the puppy hotel , 1pm pick up my dress.... so freaking excited and 3pm wax, mani & pedi..... I think I will sleep on the plane LOL

Nope, they didn't charge us anything for our welcome dinner.  At first, one of the hostesses was skeptical that we could do it, but I kept asking.  And finally, a male host/waiter helped us make it happen (moved a table that she said we couldn't move, haha).  It all worked out well!  We were all seated at a very long table (tables pushed together).

I just asked my coordinator about having the reception dinner there.  And we went from there.  If you PM me your email, I'll email you the details on the menu!  :)

Did they end up charging your for it when you just showed up?  Were you guys able to be seated together?

How did you go about asking to have your reception dinner at El Caribeno if it wasn't on the list?

How did you create a set menu (did you have something to choose from?)

Hi my Lovely one....how's life as a Mrs. Treating you?

I was looking at the weather via this wedding thing that I signed up for ages ago and they are talking about rain even on the wedding day...  at first I was a little down but there is two things that I know: 1) Weather is subject to change & 2) What God has for me it is for me...  so with that I got excited again.. ;-)

I humbly thank you for your compliments and can't wait until it's all over so that I can RELAX...  whew.  ,

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
