This is my first post! I am a MP April 2013 Bride!  I have just finished 5 days of reading through this entire thread (all 378 pages) and the information is invaluable.  I feel like I know so many of you already and you are all so talented, beautiful and wonderful!  I am grateful for all the insight I now have regarding what to expect in the next 14 months as I begin to plan my wedding.  I wish you all the best in next months as your wedding dates approach and look forward to seeing how all your weddings turn out!  I am not a very creative bride, but all your DIY projects are so inspiring, I may just take a shot at it!  I walked around AC Moore this afternoon gathering up ideas already!  I am sure I will have many questions as the days and months go on, but for now just saying hello!

OMG, that is called domestic violence and has nothing to DO with the resort!!  How stupid- he could have killed her anywhere!!

Well ladies I have been meaning to post some of my recent DIY projects... so here they are!

First, my "do not disturb" signs.  Coco- I got the circle cutter you rave about and a big paper cutter and they have been great investments!  Made these bad boys a breeze!

IMG_0454.jpg

Also- I finished my survival kits to put in my OOT bags.  This is a big CHECK! Off the list.  For the new BDW brides out there I have a word of advice- if you are planning on doing these or other OOT bag ideas buy things as you find them and don't wait to start stocking up once you figure out your game plan.  I started buying things last fall which helped the $$ situation now.

My favorite thing in the kits?  Caribbean Escape Antibac from B&BW.  How perfect!! (They have that new collection of lotions that are all destination themed- unfortunately no caribbean- I think they're Bali, Rio and something else.  I guess we'll have to go to Brazil for wedding renewals sometime LOL!!)

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.  I saw the episode, Dateline NBC - Mystery at Moon Palace.  The husband murdered his wife.  This could have been done (and has been done) anywhere and everywhere in the world.  I fail to see how a domestic violence occurance at a resort in Mexico has anything to do with the safety of either the country or the Resort.  I don't know if any of my potential guests saw the show, but if they even think about bringing it up to me as an argument to not go, they are going to get a mouthful from me about their ignorance.

Ladies,

Just in case anyone is wondering about IIiana or Lucy here is a message that I received from Lucy today.  I had to dig in some smile117.gif as I still haven't heard from Valeria.  The Miami folks are out of the office because of the holiday but MP follks are there.  Happy Planning.

Dear Chanel, due to some changes in our company, since October 2011, Iliana or I are not longer in the wedding department.  We have a corporate wedding call center in Miami that is providing information, contracts, and rates and planning for our brides.

Iâ€m copying this email to Ms. Gretel Del Junco, Wedding Supervisor; she will assign a Wedding Planner to you so she can follow up. Our team will make sure you have an unforgettable day.

Sincerely,

Hi ladies,

Does anyone have any suggestions for reception seating for a smaller group? (approx. 30)

Should I still do wedding party at one table and then 2-3 other tables of guests or should I do a sweetheart table and then 3 tables of guests? I don't know what to do...

Is everyone bringing their own linens or does anyone have pricing for linen rental at the resort?

if you need seating for 16..do 20 seats so theres some spaces in between so everyone isnt on top of one another. that way you can spread it out a little more and it doesnt look so "silly"!!

They do rent the fabric down there, but I believe it can be pretty pricey depending on what you do.  Some girls have brought there own too!  Unfortunately, I have no idea the how long you would need your own to be, etc...

As for the wedding date, I feel like that took forever for me too.  Keep e-mailing them, I also had my TA e-mail them as well!

And even through I am working with a travel agent, we are STILL waiting to hear back from MP about reserving a wedding date!!! Which is frustrating because we really want to send out invitations and get the ball rolling with telling our guests when deposits are due, etc.  Any words of wisdom on that? Should it take this long for them to get back to me on just reserving a date??

I have been reading a lot about some of you having problems with the WC and planning things and it kind of freaks me out!!  Before I go ahead and book MP should I look into other Palace resorts??  I really don't wanna have a hard time for the next 8 months planning this wedding, when it shouldn't be that hard to plan!  If you had it to do over again would you go with MP or pick a smaller Palace resort?

Thanks! Katie

I heard about this months ago before the dateline special and thought for sure people would freak out!  But, I was prepared to let people know that the crazy husband killed his wife, which has nothing to do with the resort or cancun itself!!!!

I am having a small reception as well.  I was thinking of doing a T shape on the terrace.  There will only be 20 of us, but we are having a private function.  Or I may just do 8 and 10 and a sweetheart table so it looks like there are more people???

As for linens, I am bringing down my own chair sashes and table runners, but that's it.  I just found them so much cheaper online than what they have them priced at.  Now if they charge a $250 set up fee, that changes everything!

I'm using Marvin as well, he is great! he emails me back right away.  He quoted me 55 per bouquet, so I guess it depends what you get.  I am doing 2 small bouqeuts for my flower girls and he quoted me at 35 for each.  I am also using them as centerpieces to save money so for 10 a piece Marvin is giving me vases to put them in.  I am just going to have one of my bridesmaids set them up before we go in, to avoid any set  up fees by Moon Palace.  Marvin also works with you so you don't have to pay that stupid outside vendor fee from Moon Palace.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
