Moon Palace 2012 Brides

Recommended Posts

Wow, all the invites, STD's, decorations, dresses, are AMAZING. I feel so far behind everyone in terms of projects. I'm in my 4th year of grad school and have been trying to get my dissertation off the ground for the past few months, and really haven't devoted any time to wedding planning. I think I'm overwhelmed at the thought of these projects as well because right now we have 110 people with their deposits down and a few more "maybes" too (Indian weddings are ridiculous!). So I'm not sure if i want to even tackle OOT bags for that many people. FI and I talked about making 1 per family or couple and handing them out at guests' homes before we leave, just so we don't have to lug all that stuff down to Cancun. What do you ladies think? Would that take away from the surprise or excitement of them?

On a happier note, my parents and I just booked our flights to India for this december! I will be buying my outfits and other wedding ceremony necessities from there and haven't been since since I was 6 years old! I won't get to do much sight seeing because I"m only there for 2.5 weeks, but I'm super excited nonetheless!

First off, I'm floored by the creativity and generosity of you ladies being willing to share your ideas!!  This thread is full of awesome synergy.  LOVE it.  Inspiring.

Secondly, I'm really encouraged because after racking my brain for DAYS on how to decorate for our ceremony (and using lots of printing of beach ceremony templates and colored pencils), I think it's all coming together about what we're going to do!  Here's my crude drawing, haha:

Photo of 1st Draft Ceremony Decs.jpg

It's still a rough draft.  I may play with the colors a bit more and try silver chair sashes instead of teal, since the bridesmaid dresses are teal, and I don't want it to be too "tealy" lol.  We'll only put sashes on the aisle chairs in order to save on cost.

The words hanging on the chairs will say "Love is the Treasure of Life."  It's the saying we have on our invitation.  (I also want to get shepherd's hooks for our cocktail hour and bring the words there to hang. :)  I make some other words, too, for the cocktail hour, and put them in a container, and people can change the wording on the hooks for fun and photos --- kind of like refrigerator magnets... i.e.  Just adding a "MY" word to this bunch, you could change the words to say "Love of my Life" and take a picture with them.)  In this pic, the words are silver and outlined in blue.  I may try to do them in brown instead so that I can hang up the words in one of our rooms when we get home (our home has more natural, earthy colors).

The flowers in glass are what they have pictured in the Sapphire collection.

I haven't included the judges table yet because I don't know what to put on it.

Any ideas or feedback as I'm playing with this?     feedback.gif   (Btw, I don't know why this smiley man has angry eyebrows.  I'm definitely not angry, haha.)

Also, this means that I've kind of changed my colors to include lime green!!!  I feel very happy about this because now the colors for our flowers are coming together much better, too!  Now, my colors are teal, lime green, silver, and dark blue.  Feeling very encouraged!

Goodnight, lovely ladies!

Nope.. I think (my personal opinion of course) that looking at your current sketch if you lined the aisle with the material as well as the flowers that would be way too much.  However; if you look at your sketch and close off the very top of the aisle (drape material from the last chair on the bride side to the last chair on the groom side) that will force your guest to go to the other way instead of down the center aisle.  Once everyone is seated and the bridal party is ready to proceed, the material can be removed and will remain open for the rest of the ceremony.

Sounds like nighttime is your best productive time!  And that work schedule/supplies are also helping you with your DIYs. :)  Gotta run to Martial Arts (I've lost some fat and gained some muscle in the last few months, woo hoo!!).... can't wait to read your PM later.

P.S.  Made some tweaks to the decorations and will post later...

Sophia56,

Wow, 110 people that is amazing!  Let the unlimited events begin ;-)  With that said, I think you guys would be better off doing a fabulous favor versus OOT bags.  Your bags unless you stick to the extreme basics will cost a pretty penny.  If you do decide to do them, I would definitely distribute them before going.  Many brides have done this to defray the cost of lugging stuff down.

Well ladies, I purchased something today that is very necessary but has me very sad (I know I'm holding back tears and won't post any icons).

I purchased our memorial charm which will have 3 pictures.  The pictures will be of my FI's parents and my best friend who is also my Honorary Maid of Honor.  She passed away in June of 09' two days before her 37th bday.  As I'm fighting back tears, I'm going to sign off for the night.  Please keep me in your prayers....I didn't think that I would get this emotional...  thanks ladies.

Hey ladies!

I recently became interested in having my wedding at the moon palace in 2013. We found this to be a great place to have our wedding and they had everything that we wanted. We got our WC who is Janina, but it is so early that we dont have to do any planning now. The only thing was the down payment and half the cost of the package is due in two weeks. I was just wondering if they requested you to send a fax of your card that you were using (front and back). This makes me uncomfortable to be honest...so i was hoping that someone could reassure me that this was requested from them. I am so excited to begin my planning and get this minor headache out of the way!

Thank you so much =)

It's mostly Jungyae Moosul, but it also has some Tae Kwon Do and Chun Kuhn Do.  I've been trying it out for like a month and a half and LOVE it.  My first paycheck from my new job (since moving) arrives Oct 5, so then the FI and I can look at finances and decide if I can officially sign up to be a student.  Crossing my fingers!!  Seems like your son has been studying for a bit.  I think it's an amazing sport for children to participate in... and really, people of all ages.  I think it teaches me as a whole being....  not just a fitness aspect.

Wow, Sophia!!!  You have a lot of people that Love you and want to celebrate your special day!  How exciting.  I agree that doing nice favors would be totally okay instead of doing full out OOT bags for each room.  If you go that route, I think it'd be a nice gesture to have a special thank you note in each room when the guests arrive.  This way, they still have something special waiting for them saying that you appreciate them coming all that way.  (Plus, thank you notes are easy to travel with!)  You could still do OOT bags before you leave, for sure.

How exciting that you're going to India soon!  Visiting India is definitely on my Bucket List.  Can't wait to see what wedding wonderfulness you buy there. :)

Yes, we absolutely faxed over a copy of our credit card to them (front and back).  Feel comfortable that you are in good hands!  What package are you doing?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
