Moon Palace 2012 Brides

Recommended Posts

Wow I've been gone for a week and everyone has so much done! Everything looks so great and it has made me so motivated to get some of my stuff started. I'm working on my DIY boarding pass invites, wish me luck as I am not crafty at all!

Speaking of getting married before or after Mexico, I remember reading in my contract that a marriage certificate was one of the documents I need to have when I get to the resort. We were planning on getting married before anyway, but I don't understand why it was listed if we have the option to get married after... can anyone clarify?

I felt very strange waiting at the JP and it was very quick and non formal. Even though he wanted to do it, my FI did not want to make it a big deal and was surprised when I wanted him to wear dress pants ( and he likes to dress up!). I am not going to change my name until we get back and our anniversary is still going to be in June. It's kind of a fun secret though :)

You will be fine, we are all cheering for youcheer2.gif  believe you me, before this forum I didn't think I could draw a nice circle, now I can go to Michaels to get some tools for that LOL.

I guess they assumed that everyone would get married before hand so never changed the language.  I have it in writing from my Coord just in case we decide to do it later (which I highly doubt).

What?!  They told me I could use the resort credits towards hair and makeup!

I'm also considering hiring someone outside the resort -- was looking at Sara Tamargo who uses MAC, but she doesn't have many pics up on her site (saratamargo.com).  Also, I asked for prices from Melissa from MVP, who seems like she'd be GREAT, I'm just not sure if I can rearrange our budget to book her.  (If you want her prices, PM me.)  Also heard good things about someone named Adrian who uses MAC (but don't have any further info unfortunately) and someone named Fernando Fuentes whom I haven't researched yet.

I hope some of this helps.  I'm curious to also know what you find out.  Would you be willing to share some of your findings with me?

I absolutely loved Doris. From the trial to the day of, she impressed me with her work. She was very sweet and nice. I brought in pictures as examples and she knew exactly what I wanted. I was a little nervous for makeup since I didnâ€t have a trial but for the first time ever, I didnâ€t look like a drag queen. I brought my own makeup and lashes and she used a mix of mines and hers and it was perfect. The heat did mess with the lashes because by the end of the night, they were coming off. But my makeup stayed on really well and I was really impressed and felt really beautiful the day of my wedding.

SALON A++: I got my hair done at the Nizuc salon by Maria. They wouldnâ€t let me choose who would do my hair, but I was very happy with Maria. I have a lot of hair, so my appointment took about 2 hours and 15 minutes! I am very happy I scheduled for an hour earlier than they had recommended! She did an amazing job. I brought several pictures, and she did almost exactly what I wanted. She did try to put in a bump at the crown (which I did not want and was not pictured) and was pinning the curls in front in such a way that it almost looked like a halo, but once we fixed that, it truly was perfect! My only complaint would be that it didnâ€t hold up very well. Curls were falling out before I even go to the ceremony, so Iâ€d say bring lots of hairspray and extra bobby pins for touch ups.

Our wedding was scheduled to start at 3:00 so I booked my hair and makeup for 11:30. My appointment was booked with Alberto, and he did a fabulous job. He did my hair exactly like the pictures I provided and was able to cover up my peeling forehead with a great makeup job.

Haha, yeah. They have a tool for everything! I never really thought Michaels was anything great until I started planning for this wedding. So much fun!

So... I've been thinking about this for awhile. I know some of us want to possibly hire someone to do our hair and makeup other than using the resort but are worried about the cost since we'll have to get them a day pass. I'm looking into Sara Tamargo. In my case, I'll probably end up paying for a room for my photographer anyway so I'm wondering... do you think I can get away with booking a double room under my photographer's name and Sara's so that she can get in the resort as my guest? That way I'm pretty much shooting two birds with one stone. What do you ladies think?

leenancy, to be honest, I think its overkill and you'll end up spending so much more than you have to.  I'm simply getting Norma a guess pass and she will be listed as such. Anyone with a guess pass can come as early as 7a and leave the resort at 11p.  If you do it the way that you are thinking you will have to pay the room rate X 2, plus the cost of your photog and make-up.

I actually mean paying for one room, but putting it under both their names. One single room under Gonzalo's (my photographer) name is going to be $334. But one double room under his and Sara's names will be $370. In the end it's only going to be a $55 savings, but I guess that's the frugal side of me that my FI would be so proud of, lol  msnwink.gif

Ah so you are going to put both their names on the room knowing that the photog is going to use the room in order to lower the cost for the photog by $55. Si Si.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
