Why thank you!

In regards to a TA, the reason I got one was so I could direct everyone to her instead of having to answer a million questions from all my guests. Also she will be able to get me a list of when and how long people will be staying. And of course she is able to give you a slightly discounted rate for the rooms. I found ours on this website. Her name is Teresa from Vacations for Less Inc. She is free from what I understand! And the best part is we get the booking perks through her as well!!!!! BUT if you are going to use your Mom's membership, I don't think you would even be able to use a TA anyways. Not positive about that one though!

It sounds like you have a lot checked off your list already! Woo Hoo! It feels so good every time you get to cross one off right?!?

Well if you are at MP early enough, maybe all us "wedding sisters" can get together for some late night drinks! :)

Happy Planning!!!! :)

Even though you all have answered so many of my questions already, I still feel like I have a lot!  I will try to spread them out one at a time so it's not overwhelming, haha.

So far, this is what I've been able to check off:

- Making my own customized checklist

- Breaking down our budget

- Wedding Dress - bought and paid for!  (My beloved Granny treated me to this)!

- My shoes & Bridesmaid's shoes (Silver Coach flip flops - mine are bright silver, and theirs are gunmetal.  Bought BM's these as gifts)

- Reserved date with MP. (Now waiting for them to get my judge and send contract... it's been a week... I think I'll call them tomorrow!)

- Started ordering supplies for MIB invitations.

- Started making website with all details so guests can check it out when they recieve invites.

- Registered at Bed, Bath, & Beyond (want to also do Target and possibly Pottery Barn)

- Booking photographer Octavio Montes for 3 hours on Wedding Day + TTD on Beach and Cenote

- Compiling a list of questions for Miami and/or WC

My next priority (besides sending out invitations ASAP - we didn't do any Save the Dates) is to inquire about blocking out rooms.  I saw a bunch of posts about this on here, and I'm wondering about using a TA.  I can't decide between just having my guests book directly through MP through a link or getting a TA.  What makes you ladies go with a TA?  I've never used a TA in my life when I travel, so I feel in the dark.  We are inviting 80 households (about 160 people), so I want to make booking as easy as possible.  We are on a very tight budget too, so I'm wanting to qualify for as many freebies as possible - shooting for the 75 bookings!  What TA's specifically are you ladies using?  And, may I ask, what do you generally pay for a TA?  My Mom is a Palace Premier Member, so we are going to try to get all rooms through her membership with reduced room rates.  I'm aware that our wedding will be in Peak Season!

Thanks again ladies - for everything.  You are my angel1.gifs!  (First emoticon I've ever used... haha - such a newbie at this!)

Love,

Tammy

P.S. Coconoir & KRSmith - Love your wedding dresses!  Gorgeous!!  KRsmith - you look stunning in your engagement pics.  We're also "Wedding Sisters," as my wedding is only 4 days after yours! :)

Krsmith - isn't Teresa amazing? She handled my wedding this past May and I am so glad she did! She even was able to refund our money a month before the wedding since we ended up hitting the numbers and got our whole stay comped. I highly recommend Teresa to anyone! BTW, Teresa is free to you but I am sure she gets a kickback from the resort. Also, if you ever have a hard time getting ahold of your wedding coordinator, let Teresa know. She will contact her Palace contact and help you get in touch with your wc.

We booked our wedding through my parent's membership. It was maybe a couple hundred more than using a TA. But you definitely get more benefits booking through a membership. If guests complain about the difference, you can remind them about the free tours, mani, pedi, massage and superior rooms. The bride and groom also got another free massage when we were there, in addition, when we met our WC she offered us a free photography package. We didn't use the photos because we had friends doing our photography.

You could always use a TA to arrange flights? We had people traveling from about 7 different cities, so we just called the airlines and asked for a wedding group discount.

She will do airfare but it might be cheaper for you to do it on your own.

Teresa was really nice but be careful and double check everything.  Deanna, Teresa's assistant helped us a lot and made a ton of mistakes.

First she had my FIs mother and aunt at a different wedding.  Then they booked my friend on nights that NO ONE was going to be there.  She wasn't even going to be there during the wedding and they tried to blame it on me. (Why would I book my friend when I wasn't even going to be there?)  Deanna also never responded to many of my family and friends e-mails. Just call at least once a week to follow up.

It was all good but just ask for a summary often and double check it.  Also, make sure to remind everyone to get the transfers.

Congrats!

Wow - thanks for the feedback, ladies!  It really helps.

I love the idea of the ease of a TA (and how it'd be free for me).  Teresa sounds great (thanks for the advice about Deanna, too), and I may call her to get some info.  Mochamakes - you say that using the membership would be a couple hundred more than using a TA?  Did your parents have a certain amount of "rooms" that guests could use?  What sort of benefits do you get from a membership that you wouldn't be able to get through a TA - it seems like other girls are saying they still get booking perks, but I'm still unclear.

I got assigned a WC!  Geraldine Flores.  Anyone else have her or have heard of how she is as a WC?

KR Smith - We will fly in on the 15th.  I'd be willing to meet up for sure - schedule permitting! :)  Man, it DOES feel so good to cross things off this list!

Thanks for all the info regarding complimentary and diamond... I think its definately made my mind up to go for the complimentary and add a few things on.  It will work out cheaper and be more customised to us and what we want :-) so thanks for that.

It looks like its going to be quite a small wedding and a big AHR.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
