Another question - for the Complimentary Package it says "a dinner reservation for 35 people" so does that mean for my wedding receiption I get to have it at at one of the restaruants? Or, is the dinner reservation for something else? I had wanted to have mine on the beach with a dinner menu, but is that not included in the complimentary? I am so confused.

Hi Merrylee - I would check with your MP WC on that.  I am getting married at Playacar Palace and the only thing I had to authorize the credit card for was a $300 cancellation fee in the event that we canceled within 45 days of the wedding.  I am getting the complimentary package too!  Perhaps your TA was talking about the fee for the room block???  But as far as I would think, both resorts should have similar policies since they are both Palace.

The Website is updated!!!

So question, I was told my travel agent that in order to reserve the wedding date you want for the Moon Palace that you have to put down a $200.00 deposit (even if doing complimentary wedding) and you have to put down $150.00 per person.  I am just really checking to see if the way I am going is the best way to do this or if I should be trying to go about planning this a different way.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think that is IF you chose to use that. If you want a dinner on the beach that would be considered a private function. If you want to do a private reception on the beach with a dinner menu (buffet only...for plated menu you have to be inside) you have to pay $400/table of 10. You could maybe use the dinner reservation for something else? Maybe welcome dinner?

Oh okay yes, I think I understand now. I guess if we reach the 75 room nights, then it wont matter anyways? Thanks for the advice!

Thanks Perry, my problem is that I don't have an MP WC yet I've been dealing with my TA.  We've been engaged a little less than a month and our wedding is in April 2012 so I am truly just at the beginning stages and I sometimes feel like I am not getting the care I should be from my TA

STILL haven't gotten the confirmation from the Minister yet! I guess its ok since we have more recently decided we might want to do the Catholic ceremony. I was raised Catholic and my FI became a Catholic last year. We don't go to church regularly, and with how much work (and $$) it takes to get married in the Catholic church, we originally decided we wanted to do a symbolic/civil ceremony.

I showed my mom the pictures of the Chapel Gazebo, and just couldn't stop talking about how beautiful a Catholic ceremony would be in there. I feel like we should just do it, as that is REALLY important to my mom. She already wasn't to comfortable with the idea of a Mexico wedding, so I feel like I should at least give her that. UGH!!! Decisions decisions!

We will be calling either this weekend or on Monday to check in with what is taking SOOOO long, and see if doing a Catholic ceremony would be an option. I'm hoping they could also let us do a civil one so we can have our date be our REAL anniversary too. I need to send out STD asap, but I am waiting to hear from MP so I can set everything up with our TA. Seems a little daunting!

Hi MerryLee,

Definitely begin by going online to www.palaceresorts.com and send your wedding reservation requests.  This will begin the process of at least getting the date that you and your FI would like. If you are feeling like you aren't getting what you need from your TA, some serious thought should be put into that before you guys begin booking etc..

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
