We haven't looked into the DJ, but I'm glad to know that the IPOD worked out for you!

Now whenever songs from our reception play on my ipod, it brings back the best memories! :)

That's awesome that it worked out! But what if something happens with the Ipod? I was reading this post on the Marriage.com forums about it, and they just said to "Make sure you make duplicates of the same playlist on different backup ipods (friends, family) and have friends DJ throughout the night! Also, be sure to put the master playlist on a computer. Better yet, make a note of all the songs and send a copy to one of your attendants for him/her to keep– just in case! Last minute emergency solved."(http://www.marriage.com/dj-or-ipod) but none of my friends are tech people and I have no idea how much renting a stereo system would cost.

Ideas?

Great thread!! I cannot justify the cost of a dj along with the outside vendor fee they charge.. I am going to rent the amp and microphone from the hotel ($250).. So really $250 for our reception music, thats music we all like, I think is quite a good deal!

We are having a friend bring his BOSE docking station and have started created the separate playlists.  I will definitely check out the app. We tested the BOSE out and it's definitely loud enough for 25 guests.  Now I just have to think about the whole microphone/announcements/speeches issue.  Hmmm

Hey,

I'm so glad I found this thread.  We bought a portable Bose sound dock, and I'm a bit worried it won't be loud enough, or 'surround sound enough' for the reception.  I believe we'll be either outside, or will have a private room somewhere in the resort.  We have 60 guests, but don't anticipate that many will get up to dance.  Has anybody used this with success?  I"m worried that it won't sound very loud, especially with background noise.

Thanks,

We had someone in charge of the ipad and he announced us when the wedding coordinator told him to.  Then we just did all the special dances back to back and he announced what they were "Father and Bride" or "Mother and Groom".

Thanks!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
