2011 & 2012 PLAYACAR PALACE BRIDES!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Thank you so much for your post Perry and CONGRATULATIONS on your wedding :)

It's great to hear that you had such an amazing experience, you looked beautiful!

I'll be getting married at Playacar Palace April 2013 and have been searching for images of green space around the resort for a while!!! You have just lead me to it :) Do you know if this park part of the resort? I'm wondering if this could be a nice location for the ceremony... I don't picture a beach ceremony and we'll have approx 50 people so the terrace will be too tight.

Also, where did you have your reception? We're thinking about doing dinner outside somewhere (north or south solarium) and then the reception on the beach because it seems to be the only place that the party can go until 2am other than the ballroom.

Any thoughts would be very appreciated!

Best,

Lorraine

Hello Playacar Palace!

Wondering what you are doing for table decorations. Just checked in with Dulce, my coordinator, and she confirmed that we are able to decorate the tables ourselves (no additional cost) with items we bring from home. I'm planning on bringing candle sticks and buying a flower arrangement from Zuniga (although I have yet to receive pricing info from them).

Some have posted prior that PP was charging brides a per table charge to allow you to decorate your own tables. Dulce confirmed otherwise though. Would any recent brides out there have any info on how you coordinated your own table decor and PP costs to do so?

Hasta luego!

Hi Ladies,

I just booked my wedding at Playacar Palace for Sunday April 21, 2013 - such a relief! One of the woman at the resort is telling me I cannot book my ceremony and reception locations until I arrive at the resort! Is this true?!

She wrote: Please note, locations are not confirmed until you arrive to the resort and finalize checking your details with your onsite wedding coordinator. This will be according the number of guest you will have.

Hey ladies! Sorry I haven't been on here in quite some time but I have a ton to report back on from my site visit a month ago. Wilma - head wedding coordinator She is amazing - everything you have read about her is completely true. She will do whatever it takes to make sure you have a fabulous day! Biggest surprise - Lots of renovations Pretty sure they have not posted these anywhere yet and I don't want to freak people out but there is alot going on that isn't supposed to be completed until mid Dec (when high season starts). These are what we are aware of: 1- North Solarium is being turned into approx 8 "Sand Suites" meaning it will no longer be an outdoor location for events (in my opinion it was the best one they had and where we were planning to hold our reception for 60-70 people). They are going to demo the concrete area that is currently there and make the ground floor suites accessible to the beach from their screen doors. 2- South Solarium is getting approx 6 "Swim-up Suites" meaning they are demo-ing the beach area (next to where most of the weddings are held) and expanding it to have a private pool area for the rooms on the ground floor on the South side of the resort. 3- Momo Hana (the Asian restaurant) was closed because they are adding hibachi grills. 2 thumbs up.. Can't wait to try it! 4- On-site Spa.. They currently have their spa and golf course off-site, which is about a 15 min shuttle ride. Should be awesome to have the spa be on the property! I also took an insane amount of pics and video and also took pics of the renderings the resort had made for the Sand and Swim-up Suites. Still waiting to find out when they will start listing those rooms for availability because I definitely want one! Also want to note that if you want any of your events to be truly private that you'll get forced into the Ballroom at some point. I was sad to move our reception there at first but now think it was he right move because everyone is going to want some AC at the end of the day after being in the hot sun! I should note that the set up is a little strange to get to the Ballroom (you have to walk through the gift shop to get there) but its a beautiful space. I learned much more than I'm able to write in here but I hope this helps a few people out. After being there for a long weekend and checking everything out and tasting all the food I know we will not be disappointed for our wedding in January. Was relieved we got the info we did and can now finish planning what we want with hopefully little-to-no surprises. If you want any pics or video or have any questions about the actual resort or layouts.. Please private message me.

Hi KJsouthie!

Thank you for the information...that was very helpful!  When do you go for your site visit?  I'm actually leaving on Thursday for our wedding on 11/12.  I've been in contact with Dulce and requested that my guests stay away from the construction and she mentioned that it should be done by then.  Not freaking out though, but just curious :)  I want to be prepared!  I'm having my wedding on the beach and reception at the South Solarium but I'm really curious to see how that looks if there's construction going on!

Thanks!

I just got back from my wedding at PP

There is construction but its very very minimal and they keep it very disgreet, Playacar Palace is so very professional, clean, organized and accomodating that you wont find any problems here.

If you could see the resort from an aerial view, if facing the ocean, look to the right of the pool they are putting in swim up mini pools that connect to the larger pool for those suites, this is what I was told by the front desk, it doesnt impede on the pool usage and you dont even notice it! (some people on other threads for PP were thinking the pool was like tore up or something, not the case!! The resort is amazing, anyways this thread looks like a ghost town now but if any gals need info or are freaking out and need reassurance of their choice with PP, you can email me! Genie.bowen@yahoo.com

lots of pics on Cecilia Dumas Photography website under "Full Weddings"- Click Genie & Max.

we did North beach and North solarium because its more private and right near eachother.

what they call the south solarium is really the concrete right at the pool, so if you wanna have your reception among the pool and restaurant goers, well.. that would be there. Also saw some colin cowie collections done while there (i didnt chose it)..it was cute but for the money, IMHO..not worth it really but if you have the extra few grand laying around and whatnot i guess it would be cool.

I will do a seperate review on here for Cecilia, once we are done with our AHR, I am still in sort of busy mode.

She is simply amazing!!!!!! Highly recommend her!!!a

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
