2011 & 2012 PLAYACAR PALACE BRIDES!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Hey Everyone!

We just got back from our wedding/honeymoon at the Playacar Palace and it was absolutely amazing!  Everything went better than we ever could have hoped for.  We had a private cocktail hour, a rehearsal dinner on the South Solarium (which included a 7 year old's birthday - complete with a pinata & birthday cake that Laura, our WC was kind enough to set up for us) another cocktail hour after the ceremony on the Cielo Terrace (with a mariachi) & a reception on the North Solarium - everything was perfect, the service was incredible!

The ceremony itself was perfect - better than we could have hoped.   We had originally asked for North Beach, but after seeing the actual setup & how much activity there was on the north beach at 3:00 pm, we decided to move it to the South Beach - which turned out to be a good move.   At that time, the beach & pool are still pretty active, but as everyone else has mentioned, when everything is happening you don't even know it, it really does feel intimate and special (although there was one woman right behind our setup which was promptly chased away by an aunt.)

It literally could not have gone any better than it did and we are so happy with the decision we made to go with the Playacar Palace.   We stayed there for an extra week after the wedding and we continued to receive the most amazing service ever - everyone knew us by name, we never went without anything, it was awesome.  We stayed in the concierge level - which I would highly recommend - we had a knock on our door every hour making sure that we were ok and didn't need anything.  Wonderful!!!

Laura, our WC was amazing, she went way beyond what we expected of her!.

We hired an outside photographer - Samuel Luna- who was amazing as well,  he was very nice and a pleasure to work with.  We've only seen one of the picture he took, but it's pretty cool & we can't wait to see more!

The only negative was that the resort was having some construction done, which meant that there was quite a bit of noise for some of our guests from 9 -5 - making it hard to take naps if they so desired.  A little bit of warning on that would have been nice, but otherwise everything was perfect!

Hello Playacar Brides! Thank you for all of the useful information.  I have two questions that don't really seem posted anywhere:

1. What's the final price of what you all have ended up spending?

2. When you get the unlimited private events, does it include an unlimited number of people? Or do you have to pay per person for everyone after 30 people?

Thank you for all your help!!!

Hello Everyone! I just had the most amazing wedding and honeymoon at the Playacar Palace! It couldn't have been more perfect. I'm pasting the review I did for the Smile Market (also known as Ocean Photo Studio). My photos are absolutely amazing!

"We got married at the Playacar Palace Resort and Spa and used Ocean Photo Studio for our photography as they were the preferred vendor with our resort. I was a little hesitant to use them at first and thought about using an outside vendor, but I am absolutely glad I didn't! Our photos were ALL AMAZING and easily looked like photos that I've seen people pay thousands of dollars for. Our photgrapher, Ruben, was a total professional! He took amazing photos and captured every moment to a tee! He also listened to what we wanted and was very personable.  What I really can't believe is the turnaround time to receive our photos! We got married on Saturday and recieved our beautiful and perfectly put-together photobook (it's amazing...I've received so many compliments) and photo album on Wednesday!! I know brides who have waited months for their photos!! In addition, we also received our amazing DVD. We had brought a CD to give to our guests as gifts and they even included some of our music on it! I highly recommend this photography service to anyone!"

Our wedding weekend started off with a welcome cocktail party on the Cielo Terace on Thursday evening (I left a one-page itinerary on cute beachy paper with the front desk and they gladly handed them out to my guests upon check-in).  They made our signature drinks and were very attentive. The hors d'oeuvres were also delicious! I handed out my welcome bags at the cocktail so I wouldn't have to pay the delivery fee to the rooms and it worked out perfectly.  didn't have a rehearsal dinner or anything on Friday because I wanted my guests to have a free day to do what they wanted and enjoy their vacation. Saturday was my wedding on the beach. We had our hair done at the palace salon and the girls did an AMAZING job on all of our hair! The girls and I got ready in my beautiful honeymoon suite while we snacked on a room service and drank mimosas.  The wedding itself was also amazing. I didn't mind having all the people at the pool and beach watching. You're in such a "zone" you don't notice...at least I didn't. The beach and the resort did not seem too busy, but it may just be the time of year I got married. There are not any people in bathing suits in ANY of my pictures.  We had our wedding dinner at La Terraza, the Italian restaurant and everything was amazing. In addition, our wedding cake was beautiful. The only outside vendor I used was Flores Riveria Maya for my bridesmaids bouquets and boutanniers (I got a bouquet and boutannier for my groom with my diamond package) and the flowers were gorgeous. Of course you all have read how amazing Wilma is. She is such a professional and gorgeous too!

The resort itself is amazing as well. Everyone is so friendly and attentive. We knew everyone there by the time we left on Thursday.  The food is amazing, the drinks are delicious,  and the houskeeping service is superb.  The beach is also very beautiful and the resort is so convenient to town.  I have absolutely no complaints. Good Luck to everyone still planning. Once I post pics I'll let you all know in case anyone wants to see :-)

I am so glad to hear all of this positive feedback about Playacar! I also just booked my wedding for February of 2013 :) Staying for 6 nights in a Honeymoon Suite, doing the Complimentary Wedding package on a Saturday at 4pm. I would LOVE to see everyone's pictures! Was it windy, was it very humid?

Has anyone actually used the Complimentary Package without really adding anything on? I am planning a traditional reception at home, so I just figured we would get married on the beach and then maybe hit up a restaurant and bar after, rather than an additional reception.

Any feedback, opinions, advice and pictures would be so very appreciated :)

And congrats to you that just got married!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
