2011 & 2012 PLAYACAR PALACE BRIDES!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Traci7642- Playcar was amazing for children. The staff were really attentive to them. LOVED them. Greated them by name. The pool has a shallow kids area, and of course they loved the beach.  I would totally reccomend for kids. I havent been to any of the other Palace resorts so cant compare it to those.

Hi Traci!!  There were three kids (6,6 and 8) in our wedding party and they LOVED it!!  In fact, my little diva sister (6) laid on the lounge chair by the pool, sipped her virgin Pina Colada, put on her shades, and proclaimed "This is better than Disney!"  Hahahaha.  They were so sad to leave!

Ladies, don't discount the idea of bringing flowers down with you!  It saved us a TON of money and no one believed that they weren't real and they look even more real in the pictures.  The woman I used was very affordable.  Pictures of the bouquet are in the blog http://www.jennycastrophotography.com/blog/?p=554  and the woman's site is http://www.weddingwire.com/biz/simply-classic-creations-noblesville/website/1ee97e2791be8445.html

Our wedding is a few days after yours! 9/7/12!  Looking forward to hearing how your planning is going. Shopping around local florists and photographers at the moment. Funny how Mexico isn't quite the bargain we thought it would be.  Mention 'wedding' and the price quadruples!  Happy planning, Gina

Hi Bethany,

I did all my research and decided the exact locations that I wanted for my wedding and had my Miami WC set everything up for me - including the mani/pedi's the day before.  She then confirmed EVERYTHING locations, private functions, rehearsal, dinner reservations, etc. with the PP WC to ensure that I had the exact times and locations held for me.  I am (obviously haha) super type A and like to plan everything out, so I just made sure I did my research.  Prior to my Miami WC contacting me I made sure that I called the office and they were fabulous and sent me photos of the locations, photos of previous weddings, etc. etc.  I am not doing a live band, but rather a DJ - I do not have to pay any fee because we're using the resort's suggestion.  Depending on who you speak with to arrange your events you will either need to pay a vendor fee, a per person day pass fee, etc.

I have made certain to get everything in writing from my WC.  Even when we discuss items on the phone and I get the verbal okay, I follow it up with a detailed email stating "per our discussion on blank date that A, B and C will happen blah blah blah" and then she'll reply with a confirmation.  This way when I get to Mexico I know there will be no surprises.

When is your wedding?

You sound so prepared and organized, I'm jealous!  I have to know, did you wait for your resort WC to contact you to plan the where and when for your events or did you plan the functions with the WC in Miami?  I know I've read it a million times on the forum not to worry about the lack of communication, but I would love to just get things off of my to-do list. Also, is anyone planning on using a live band for their reception.  If so, do they make you get a day pass for each band member?  I love this forum so much!  Thank you girls for brightening my day everyday!

My contract says 90 days with Ivan but even my pics in NYC were a 4 mo turn around. Remember he does all of gis own editing. I would suggest uaing pics your guests take. Anything fabulous is worth the wait ... if you want to spend more money and get a quicker turn around there are other photogs who may do it more quickly. But for me ... I will have the photps for a lifetime and if waiting gives me better results I am happy to wait :)
we are getting total run around with PP for photography... May I ask details surrounding hiring Ivan? They are telling me I have to pay for 2 nights. If I can goto them with actual details, not your name or anything, but maybe they will not be so rigid if I can say "look, you did it with another bride..." we really want ivan as well. cheers

Lola2012- We chose the harpist for the diamond package and he was great. You just pick a song and Wilma makes sure he can play it or if he doesnt get's the song early enough to learn it. I think you could choose from Guitar, harp, saxaphone, violin, and maybe a few others. Does your DJ have a light up dance floor? That would look awesome on the beach!  Armbands....Yes, wasnt to thrilled to hear that only the bride and groom could take the arm bands off, but our were tan and you couldnt see too much in the pictures. A few of our guests hated the bands anyways so they stretched them out and were able to slip them on and off as needed. You'd think for a wedding they'd allow all armbands to come off!

Smsspringer13- Our reception was at the North Solarium. We had the same amout of people, 30. We had 8 to a table for the round tables and then made a head wedding party table with the rectangular tables. We had chosen the light up dance floor with our DJ that we brought in so the tables, dance floor, candy buffet, dinner buffet, private bar and a guest sign-in table seemed to fill up the space nicely.

Reesespieces- We had the minister and thought he did a awesome job. We just went tradition and felt he did great. You do have the choice to provide script if you 'd like.

One thing I was surprised by was the sound system during the ceremony. I was asked if I'd like it so the minister could plug a microphone into it. This was and extra $250-$300 I believe. We went with it and were glad we did. Had we not the guests wouldnt have heard much and it probably wouldnt have been captured as well on the video.

Hi Sharky00, Thanks so much for the info. I am probably going to get the light up dance floor. It's a little pricey though! What I'm also concerned with is lighting on the beach. Did you purchase any lighting ? I also wanted those lights that go under the tables... So cool! Did you do anything for that or did you have enough light in the solarium ? If there are other brides out there that have already had a reception on the beach, I would live to know what you did on terms of lighting. Or was it even necessary???

Hi,

I received permission prior to hiring in writing.  I would suggest speaking to one of the other girls on the forum who has already held there wedding at PP and see what they suggest.

I'm new to writing this forum, but I'm definitely not new to getting information from the forum.  Now that my fiance and I have decided on Playacar Palace (thanks Lola2012 for her advice), I would like to start contributing my share in this forum and post the email I received from Wilma for future brides' reference:

1) What is the setup like for private reception? Are there any lights or lanterns?  If I bring my own paper lanterns, could you please set them up for free?

If you bring paper lanterns; of course we can assist you with this, we just need to consider an extra fee of 65usd as “decoration set up feeâ€

2) I would like to personalize the complimentary wedding package.  How much are the Chiavari chairs, white pergola structure and the pergola Shepherd's hooks placed down the aisle from the Nautical Collection if I were to rent them? Unfortunately, the decoration from the collections is exclusive for each package; if you are not interested in purchasing the package; what we can do is that I can give you the contact of a person from Decorations who can assist us with this; her name is Vania, she works at “Zúñiga Decorations†and she is the one who can assist you giving you some ideas similar to the ones you are requesting and prices, her email is vania@decocancun.com

3) Is there a more secluded beach ceremony where there won't be many people walking by the ceremony? At 4:00pm is the latest time we attend ceremonies; sometimes we try to move the people for 30 minutes that the ceremony takes; however, as you may know this is a public area, so I think you will have some people walking but not many.

4) Does del Sol consider as outside photographer? Do you have the approved vendor list? In case you are interested in pictures and video services, I recommend you to get in contact with Janeth from Smile Market, the company which works for us at: wedding3@palaceresortsweddingphotos.com ; “Del Sol†and “La Luna†photographers are the outside photographers who can take pictures at the Resort with a day pass which is 91usd per person per day; these are the only ones who are allowed to come to the Resort as an outside photographer.

5) Could you send me pictures of the flowers included in the complimentary package? The flowers that are included are roses; Iâ€m still waiting for a response to know which other kind of flowers does this package include; as soon as I know, Iâ€ll let you know.

I'm still waiting to hear back from Miami office regarding the wedding date and contract.  Will keep you posted regarding the communications between the wedding coordinator.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
