2011 & 2012 PLAYACAR PALACE BRIDES!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

For "Thank You's" we did customized sand pails. It had our names, wedding date and sunshine and palm trees. We then filled them with customized trinkets they would use during their stay. Sunscreens, chapstick, mini suitcases filled with treats. Then a personalized Thank You card that also listed our private function times and dates.

Hi Perry1217, So nice to hear that it all went well! Your picture of the two of you on the beach is amazing!!! Was it windy? It sounds like you said it was a bit... Just curious. Also, did you have to go to the spa to get your hair and makeup done? I would prefer to stay in my room. Did you do a trial too? Also how noisy is the pool area in the day? I've been reading on tripadvisor that it's really loud at the playacar... I was hoping it would be a bit more relaxing. Any thoughts??? Thanks! I'm so glad to hear that Wilma was great and handled everything well!!!

Hey girls!!  I am recovering from our trip back from Mexico on Thursday and then our AHR last night!!!  Everything was absolutely amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!  Wilma was the best - so sweet!  And she is also very creative!  I was pretty laid back in that I didn't go down there with specific ways I wanted things to look and thank God because it was all way better than I could have ever dreamed!!!

I did use the resort for hair and makeup and I loved it.  Nayarit did my hair and makeup and I would totally recommend it.  No matter what Miami says you CAN use your resort credits to pay for it and that's just what we did.  I would just recommend a picture because the English isn't always the best.

We had our cocktail hour at the Cielo Terrace which was perfect because it was outside and already had very cushy chairs and lounge areas.  It was awesome!  We brought an iPod dock for the trip and it was great to have for the cocktail.

We did not qualify for private functions so had the dinner in the Italian restaurant which was perfect.  With doing an AHR, I didn't want anything big.  We REALLY lucked out that the Brazilian dance and fire show was that night so right after dinner we went out to the pool area to see the show.  It was like an afterparty!!!

The one thing I would DEFINITELY recommend is to get the sound system.  Since we booked before April of last year when they started charging for the sound system set up on the beach, we were able to get it for free.  Without it, people would definitely not have been able to hear a thing, especially with the wind coming off the ocean.

Any questions, just ask!!

OH!!!!!  And we did a First Look session --- totally recommend this!!!  When you walk out of the resort (which is literally a minute walk from the town!), make a left and walk along the road where it says Playacar Palace on the outside of the building.  After a minute of two, on your right you will see a beautiful park area with palm trees and little ruins.  We did the first look session there and it was absolutely perfect!

Also, I did ask for a courtesy room to get dressed in, which Wilma got for me with no problem - for two hours!!!  She is the absolute best!

Thank you!!!!  She did an amazing job!  I can't wait for the rest of the pics

It was!  Not terrible, but I basically wrapped my veil under my arm for the ceremony.  The sound system was clutch because then the minister has a microphone so everyone can hear.  People at the pool area could hear our vows and were coming up to us later and telling us they were crying!

I did go there.  There were only two girls for 5 of us so I made sure we had 3 hours to allot!  I didn't do a trial and now I am super happy I didn't waste the money!  I will post a hair pic below

I didn't think it was bad at all!  The recent ones on TripAdvisor are skewed because they were there doing some celebrity party planner's NYE party.  That's not typical of them.  We stopped at Cozumel Palace and that place was DEAD!  We would have been bored with a group of 20some if we didn't stay somewhere with some kind of activity

Thanks! I'm so glad to hear that Wilma was great and handled everything well!!!

Honestly, she was amazing.  We made sure to tip her well because she literally took care of everything.  I had picked up little decorative things along the way along with chair sashes and paying her the $65 to set it all up was the best thing I could have done.  I didn't have the time or creativity to make it as beautiful as she did!  Also, even though Miami would tell me no (such as not being able to bring my own flowers and use the comp flowers as a table arrangement), Wilma was always YES!

As far as "thank you's"  -  We think we're doing monogrammed beach towels with our names & wedding date along with a thank you note for each of our guests Love that idea!  We're doing beach bags filled with goodies - most of which we'll probably get while we're down there.  Then, instead of centerpieces for the tables, we're getting photo trees for each table and filling them with pictures and "little known facts" about us - most of which are pretty funny.

Hi Lola!

Yes, La Luna is fab too - and now they are full partners with Del Sol, which is exciting!  Fernando's email is themakeuppros@hotmail.com let me know if you don't get a response and I will be happy to email him for you, he responded within 4 hours of my initial email and then immediately after the remaining emails.

I'm doing Welcome Bags, but I will most likely ship them in advance, or just lay them flat and then check them in a third bag.  Then I'm purchasing the goodies to stuff them while I'm there.  We are looking into a catamaran cruise as well - but the day after the wedding instead of the day before ... right now it's between that and ziplining!

Curious as to what you guys are doing with your wedding dresses since they no longer allow you to hang them?  I don't want to check it for fear of anything happening so I am pretty sure I will just fold it in the garment bag and make sure the flight attendants don't allow anyone to shove anything on top.  Does anyone else have suggestions?

Hi ladies!!!  Here is my photog's blog!!!  Only suggestion is account for the wind and make sure that your hair is super secure.  Mine came undone at times but nothing could have bothered me that day!!

Hello!
Your pictures are beautiful and everything looked amazing. I can't wait for our date in June. My one question for you and sorry if you have answered this is did you get your bouquet from the hotel or outside flower shop? If so where (possible name) and did you order it once you were there or arrange ahead of time?

Thanks!

Taylor

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
