2011 & 2012 PLAYACAR PALACE BRIDES!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi Lola!

I have 40 of the crinkle taffetta chair bows and 26 table runners (actually, make that 24.  2 have stains that might now come out.)  I'm waiting to see if one of my friends wants to buy these, but if not, I will let you know.  (I didn't use chair bows at my reception at home.  Didn't want to pay for 175 of them.  So I only used them for the head table.)

I wonder if they'd let you exchange yours?  Before I placed my big order, I ordered a bunch of samples.  That is how I figured out the taffetta crinkle was my favorite.  I loved the taffetta because it doesn't matter if its wrinkled.  It is supposed to look that way!  Great for traveling.

My reception was Friday, Nov 25th, so when I get the pictures back from my photographer, I can show you other items in this color that I'll be selling.  Not sure how many Bridesmaids you have or if you already have dresses, but the 3 bridesmaids dresses will be for sales as a set.  None are altered and they are sizes: 8, 10 and 10.

The villa suite has a/c - loved it.  Much needed after a super hot wedding.  I can't remember how long they told us we could stay up there for.  The night of our reception, the Brazilian dancers had a show and most of the guests went to it.  The rest of us went to the lobby bar and hooked the ipod dock up for another dance party of our own.

Thank you so much for posting those pics.  They look amazing!  I want the turquoise colors too but I am rethinking the organza after looking at yours!  I have already purchased it but it looks like your sahes are way more vivid.  What material was it?  I ordered from the same company but I like yours better.  Were they satin?  Or that taffetta crinkle or L'amour sashes?   Better yet are you selling them?  I would love to buy them!  Let me know as it is the exact color I want!

Also, does the villa suite have a/c and do they allow dancing until late????  Not sure if you can answer all those questions but any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks!

Rosa did my hair and I loved it!  I did my own make up, so I can't comment on that.  I can post a better shot of my hair.

I'd request Rosa - the other girls were good, but in my opinion, Rosa was better.

Just wondering if anyone who gas been married could shed light on the make- up ANC hair situation at our resort. I know that there is a Mac in Playa del Carmen, but it might be too hot to venture out on my wedding day. I would ideally like to use the hair and makeup peeps at the hotel just so I can chill out and stay cool in the a/c but I want to make sure that they are good !
If anyone has had first hand experience with this it would be great to know. Thanks!

I think the main bars are open until midnight?  Don't worry too much about that!  Trust me - if your guests are drinkers, like mine were - most won't know how to pace themselves...  They will pass out before midnight...

If they happen to last all night and the bars close before they are done drinking, grab some beer from your fridge in the room and meet down on the beach.  Or, go out on 5th Ave.

I added a couple more pics that show the la villa suite to the photo link I posted earlier.  I also added a close up of the updo.

Our photographer is from Iowa, where we live.

I love the Villa Suite! Was this overlooking the beach/ocean? It looks like surrounded by glass windows? Beautiful. We are planning on the North Solarium, but this might be a really good option too....

I used Doranna. Just do a search for her and it'll pull up her website. She was amazing and FAST! She came to the hotel room and there was no charge for a day pass. I brought in a seperate lady for make-up as well. No charge.

We used Blue Lense Caribe for our wedding. Amazing photos!!

Flowers for the wedding. I didnt go through the hotel. Way over priced. There was a flower shop just up the road. We went to them and had them deliver the day of the wedding.

Bars stay open until 1am. Like the previous post come midnight there really arent many people out and about. Our favorite was the Luna Lounge, it was nice and air conditioned and Josue is the BEST!!

We were married 11-12-11. If you have any questions feel free to contact me at shannonguitard@hotmail.com

Hey Shannon,  do you remember the name of the florist up the road?  I am not planning on ordering much from the hotel...def not flowers.  Our wedding day is next September and we haven't chosen locations yet.  I am starting to feel way behind reading everyone's posts.

Thanks so much.

Thanks for all the Info Sharky00!!!  I really appreciate it!  It's nice to know that we have the option to bring in someone not from the hotel to do hair and make up.  I might actually try to get a MAC girl to come in.  We'll see!  I heard there was a MAC so I am so excited!

Also, just on a side note, has everyone noticed the new wedding collections???  I was actually looking forward to maybe switching but now, I am not so sure.  I didn't really like what they did with the turquoise themed wedding.  I liked the chuppahs that they had before more.  Also, they better not charge more for the wedding collections that we already locked in!  I decided to choose the "diamond" collection and will add some of my own colors like turquoise chair sashes to it.  Does anyone happen to have what the old packages include?  They took them off the website and I don't want to get screwed!  I wish I had made a copy.  I am still deciding if I should go for a complimentary wedding or not...so hard to decide.

Lola,

Send me an email and I'll try to dig up the Diamond Collection. I had the same package. I was able to do the package and pick my colors. So instead of white chuppahs and silver sashes like stated in the Diamond collect, they let me do the ruby red chuupahs with ruby sashes. So, I'd think they'd let you change. I paid my Diamond Collection with my room credits since we were staying for so long. If it were coming out of my own pocket I think I'd go with the comp. package and add to it. Also, Wilma the wedding coordinator is AMAZING. We brought down all our own stuff for the reception. Candy Buffet, table runners, center peices, maracas, name placards, ect. We brought probably 4 totes to her for the reception. We had someone point her in the right directions with instructions on the items and she set it all up. It looked amazing. Of course we tipped her well at the end. For not much contact it really was a breeze! We had 27 people.

Ginta14,

I'll get back to you on the florist. They were super cheap!

We did the Carribean Buffet for the rehearsal dinner and the Mayan or Mexican Buffet for the wedding reception. They were both good, but the Carribean was the best. Everyone kept talking about it.

My cake was 3 tier. Chocolate, White, and Carrot. I only tried the carrot portion and it was really good.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
