Recommended Posts

Thanks so much! The Cielo Terrace sounds lovely! Did you have music playing? Again, I'm thinking of bringing my own speaker for the cocktail reception. I just want so music in the background. WoW! $80 for those calla lillies! I saw your pics...they (along with all the other fabulous details of your wedding) were gorgeous!! I'm guessing you supplied the vases? Thanks again soooo much to everyone!

Can anybody tell me if they purchased one of the wedding packages that Palacar has to offer? If so, does that only include decoration for the ceremony or does it include decoration for the reception as well? ie....colored lines, flowers and such? Or is decorated for another fee?

We were originally going to go with Playacar Palace and after going decided on the Aventura Cove, but the rules are the same, they dont have an issue with you bringing anything you like, but they do have a "nominal" charge for setup, the charge with their product is 6.00 per person cocktail and 12 per table dinner, and then they tack on the extra to use your linen, this is not something the advertise and it is over an above the cost for the cocktails and reception itself, you will get the 1500 credit and can use that towards the experience but I found the extra charge to be a bit more than " nominal" and was really annoyed by the surprise.

Hi Noelles,

Thank you for your respond. :)  So they basically charge alot then?  You might as well just go with the lines they rent then?  Do you know what the charge is around for the decoration you bring yourself set up cost etc...?  I figured they would do that! Ah that sucks.

Thank you! :)

The thing is that if you take a look at what you would be charged in any hotel at home its actually less, so technically no, the charge for setting up anything that is not a restaurant is 6pp for cocktails and 12 per table dinner, that is over the cost of the meal itself, so if you are on the hook for the meal that is strait out just the set up cost, I am fairly lucky we will have enough people attending our group will cover the cost of the private function, but the set up is extra.  If its not a lot of work and you talk to the people directly at the resort I am sure they will just do it, but if its extra work, its going to cost money.  It is hard for me to, sometimes, put it into perspective, its incredibly expensive as we have three kids coming with us, our cost of travel is 15000 and everything else is over an above.  But if I take the time to say ok if u were having a traditional wedding, and then going on a honeymoon... but I keep looking at the "free" wedding theory lol all I can say u get what u pay for

on the upside, tabby I dont know if u have been to the Playacar Palace yet or not, but it is literally the nicest beach I have seen in Mexico.  When we went to do our visit we went to 18 different resorts and honestly the Palace resorts by far the most cost effective and honestly the nicest with the nicest staff. I have a ton of pictures if you would like to see them and I am so happy with our choice.  We are traveling with a ton of kids so we decided on the cove to keep them occupied and safe, my thinking being that Playacar  is awefully close to 5th ave and while its perfect for the adults, I want to be able to just let my kids go for a bit and I cant do that unless it is secluded lol I think they can be trouble magnets.  FH says they have the best pina colodas too...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
