2011 & 2012 PLAYACAR PALACE BRIDES!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know when we are allowed to pick our ceremony site and reception site on the resort? I just want to do it as early as possible, so that I can ensure I get what I want.  My Palace Wedding Planner (Mercedes) contacted me the other day and basically said she was going to help me with the planning and when the date gets closer everything would be handled by the on-site/resort Wedding Coordinator. Any past PP brides, please shed some light on this and also on what exactly I can begin 'planning' with the WP.

I reserved my locations 14 months prior to my wedding.  We went there for a site visit, and selected the locations.  If you know what you want and the times, I would just email whom ever you are dealing with now and tell them.

Hi there,

My name is Kristyn Gray and my fiancé and I will be getting married at Playacar Palace on January 6th. We have a room block for 17 rooms from Tuesday 1/3 - Sunday 1/8. I had a few questions about the resort credit and resort entertainment that my travel agent said to refer to you.

1.  I understand that room upgrades and excursion bookings must be done at the hotel and cannot be done in advance. Our room block is for resort view. Is it likely that guests (and my future husband and I) will be able to upgrade or do you generally sell out at that time of year.

2) Are we limited to booking excursions available to Playacar Palace alone or can we book excursions available at other Palace Resorts?

3) My guests are very interested in snorkeling. Is there snorkel equipment available for us to use if we take the ferry over to Cozumel Palace ?

4) With the Stay at One, Play at All, how often does the advertised shuttle run to Moon Palace , and once there - are there shuttles running to the Cancun Palace Resorts?

Thanks,

K

Dear Ms. Gray,

First of all, we would like to thank you for selecting Playacar Palace as your destination for such special occasion in your life as you Weeding.

As per your questions and as you stated, tours you can book using your Resort Credit and upgrades also using the Credit, can only be book upon arrival. Right now will be quite early to tell you how the occupancy will be. However, it is high season and normally we are about 80 percent of occupancy.

The tours that you can book using your Credit, are the ones offered for Playacar Palace only. If your guests will like to snorkel at Cozumel, they should take the ferry there (which costs around 25USD per person round trip) and once they are, at Cozumel Palace can ask to borrow the snorkeling gear to be use in their property. If they would like to take equipment out of the property, they can rent it there for an extra cost.

From Playacar Palace , you can use the Courtesy Van we have to go to Moon Palace . Itâ€s only one per day and will departure from our Resort at 11am. Moon Palace has transportation to the other sister Resorts on Cancun â€s Hotel Zone. Nevertheless you will not be able to catch it, as they will departure earlier than the time our transportation will arrive there.

We hope you find this information useful. Should there be anything else we can assist you with, do not hesitate to contact us, it will always be our pleasure.

Best regards,

Thanks Tanya Marie! I sent an email to our WP to hopefully reserve our locations. I'm hoping I'll be able to confirm it with her.

Perry1217- Thanks for the info! I thought the ferry to Cozumel was more than that for some reason... great information!

  • 3 weeks later...

Hi everyone,
I am getting married at PP on Nov 22nd 2011. I have some questions surrounding what I should consider. We will get our on site co-ordinator next month and im sure a lot of questions will be answered then...but in the mean time I am wondering

1) Should we be getting a DJ- or will music be provided (for both the ceremony/reception)

2) Should we get a photographer?

3) Do we need to order bouquets for the bridemaids or are they provided?

4) We have 45 people coming  - will we have to pay extra for chairs? (the site says they accomodate up to 40)

I think that is all for now...any advice or answers would be greatly appreciated!!

Kristyn

Lauren is HORRIBLE!!! We had her as our Coordinater while we were waiting for our on site coordinator and it took her forever to respond to us - and some times she didnt even respond. when she did she knew nothing and was rude.
We just recieved word that she is 'no longer with the company' and have had someone else take over our case THANK GOD!! I was getting worried about the level of service she was giving us and was scared it may transfer over to our actual wedding day.

VENT:

I'm about ready to ask my TA to find me a different resort.  I have had TWO simple questions about bouquet options and regarding the photographers on site.  I sent two emails at the end of June and a third on July 7th to my coordinator (Geraldine).  Finally I called last week leaving a voicemail for her and followed up with an email as well.  I FINALLY got a reply to my FOURTH email but it was that my questions were being forwarded to Mercedes who is apparently specific to Playacar?????

That was on July 12th (7 days ago) and still I have heard NOTHING in regards to my questions.  I guess now I know why they offer the room credits for booking and the free package.  Because without it people would bale due to their horrible customer service.  This is creating stress that I simply do not need.  Everything else is falling into place but there is an outside photog I want to book but refuse to do so until I have it IN WRITING that I will only need to purchase a day pass for him.  If I lose this photog because of their lack of response I'm going to go balistic.

Thanks!  I actually contacted my TA.  She's been keeping up with what's been going on and I asked her if she had any management contacts.  She got me answers the SAME DAY after me trying for 3-4 weeks!!!!  Amazing what gets done when they hear you are looking to bail.  They have since been very responsive and quick.

On the bright side, I have it IN WRITING that I can have an outside photographer by purchasing day passes for him and his assistant.  I am STOKED as I did NOT want the resort photog shooting my wedding! LOL

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
