Marley - We basically have it all left to do! Our save the dates come in tomorrow hopefully, so we will send them out this weekend, along with a personalized letter explaining our decision to have a destination wedding and costs and such. Saturday I'm going for the first time to look at wedding dresses, as I have no idea what type I would like or look good in.  All I know is I want it to work with a beach wedding, and hopefully not be too heavy that it will make me sweat even more!  Our first call with the Sandals wedding rep is on Tuesday, and I think once we have that done, we'll really start the planning process.

It's an exciting & busy time for you at the moment then.  I had a bit of a drama trying to find the right dress.  I wanted one that was suitable for a destination wedding but also made me feel special.  I didn't get it right until the 3rd dress I bought.  Let me know if you want to see pics.  I know everyone says it, but you'll know when you find 'the one'.

Good luck with your call on Tuesday.  I'm sure it'll go perfectly.   If you get chance post some pics of your save the dates, would love to see them.

Have a good weekend.

Alex.

Alex - I would love to see what your dress looks like. I found one I really like this past weekend, but since it was the first time I've looked, the practical side of me tells me to at least look at a few other stores before I commit to it.  However, I keep looking at the picture I took of it on my phone, and love it every time!  My first call was yesterday, and went alright, although she did try to upsell us a lot of stuff since we're doing the BB package.  When we declined she kept saying, well it is your wedding and you want it to be special and look nice.  But we just kept saying no, and we would figure it all out closer to the date.

Hi nmw134,

I would definitely have a look at a few more.  Try styles that you've disregarded.  My dress is nothing like I initially wanted.  I wasnt going to have strapless or a corset back but that's exactly what I've ended up with.  lol.

Hmmm wedding coordinators are a nightmare at trying to upsell.  Mine didn't seem at all interested in us one we said we didn't want to buy any add ons.   I've heard you can make all these selections once your at the resort anyway.

Sorry the picture is so big.  I do know how to reduce the size.    Let me know how you go with everything.

Talk soon

Alex

Alex - Your dress is beautiful! I know what you mean about keeping an open mind on dresses, the one I love (and will probably get after checking out a few other stores) is a mermaid style, which I had no interest in even trying on, but my sister made me, and I fell in love. I don't know how to post pics, so here is the link to the dress:  http://www.morilee.com/bridals/voyage/6603

We are getting ready to send out our save the dates, and are including a letter detailing our decision to have a destination wedding since it will cost guests money (my FH and I met at a destination wedding in Jamaica).  Saturday I am going to look for bridesmaid dresses with my bridesmaids, and then go look at more wedding gowns.

How are things coming on your end?

I have a quick question, I've read on here that basically you can wait to do everything until you get down there.  Well in our first call with the Miami based consultant, she asked for our reception choice and approximately how many people we thought we were going to have.  She then sent us a form with the price for that, and is requesting payment for it ASAP so that they can hold it for us.  We are planning on the 3 hour reception and guessed 50 people, so that bill is several thousand dollars.  Since we've already spent several thousand to book our room and then hold a block of rooms at the resort and airfare, we were hoping to not have to pay anything for awhile and save up some more.  So my question is when do we really need to book the reception and pay this fee?  Is it something that can wait until its closer to the wedding (which is in March 2012) or do we truly need to do it ASAP?

Nancy, I get married next month and payment for reception, music, and etc is not due til 45 days before wedding. I have a travel agent who is a Sandals Wedding Specialist and I encourage you to work with one with that many guest. I haven't had to call Sandals once, she deals with everything for me. Heaven Sent!! Good Luck and let me know if I can be of any assistance,.

Thanks for clarifying! I see that you will soon be getting married at Sandals Negril! I can't wait to hear how everything goes for you! Since there doesn't appear to be many of us Sandals Negril brides, it does have me a little bit worried.

WOW,  that  dress it out of this world.  I absolutely love it.

Things are pretty quiet this end.  There's not too much left to do other than the music, which I keep putting off.  I might try to get it out the way this weekend.  I'm just trying, and failing, to be patient.  I just want to be there now!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
