Why are you having a destination wedding?

Recommended Posts

Yeah, it has been hard. We almost changed our minds because of it but then we decided that it was about us as a family and that we should do what makes us happy. Our daughter Hannah is really excited so that makes it even more special!!

stay strong Angela!!!

most of our friends & family have warmed up to the idea. there are a few who are still "what the hell? planning our vacation FOR us?!" and to them I say - whatever!!

This is our day, it's about us, and starting our marriage.

While we hope all of our close friends and family will choose to join us, we know that just won't happen. My FI has told me several times that we can't plan around other people, or make their choices for them.

Good for you!! You will be so glad that you didn't change your mind. AND, those guests who weren't as thrilled about the idea (like some of mine because we had ours in Mexico) will change their minds once they are there. All of my guests came away saying it was a beautiful wedding and they were happy it was a destination wedding because they had a blast--and yes, some of these people weren't exactly thrilled when they received the wedding invite. Besides, I think one of the most important things that changes peoples' minds aside from their attendance is seeing YOU happy and excited. So keep planning and get ready for a great time!

So many reasons why I wanted a destination wedding!  First of all, I didn't want to spend tens of thousands of dollars on one day when we're getting a house all in the same year.  I like the thought of celebrating with a small, close group of family and friends.  It also puts my Fiance and I on even playing field as far as family goes.  Most of my family lives in a different province/countries, his family all lives around here.  We're asking the same thing of everyone, so it makes it more fair I guess you could say.

To be honest I never really dreamed of my wedding until I actually saw one while on vacation.  I thought then, now THAT is my dream wedding - so destination wedding it was:)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
