Unique ceremony locations in Punta Cana?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any recommendations on a unique ceremony option for a wedding at the end of April?

I am thinking a private beach or garden, golf course, cruise....anything that is outside and not at a resort? We are staying at the Majestic Elegance.

Because we are having a short engagement most of the ceremony dates & times are already taken at our resort, so I need another option!

Thanks for your help!

We are getting married at The Jellyfish restaurant.  The place is really unique and the wedding coordinator, Mayte is amazing.  She has been so easy to work with.  We wanted our guests to get away from the resort and experience something different - also this is cheaper and we feel like we have more freedom with our decoration and food options.  I typed up a word document with all our specifics, from the ceremony to the beach bonfire reception complete with pictures of what we were looking for and Mayte is taking care of the rest!  Hope this helps :)

Ohhh fun! I am getting married at the Jellyfish too!!! Megs - I would love to see the info you sent to Mayte just to get some ideas.  I really want a bonfire as well!  What r your colours?  Mine are very subtle, mostly white and then accents of green, lilac, gray!  I really wanted a unique feel for the wedding and I know Jellyfish will give us this.  Who are you using for a DJ? How many ppl do you have going?  So many questions!!!

Yogagirl - Yes!  I'm excited that you're starting to look at Jellyfish!  You'll have to let me know how you're planning goes.

MissNatalie - I will send you my Word document.  Can you give me an email to send it to?  You'll have to excuse how non-professional it is LOL but I will definitely share it!  I don't have any colors...after searching and searching I decided on white roses for my bouquet and all other flowers, although I have not heard back from Mayte as of yet about how available roses are in the DR, so I might be changing to another flower.  White is beautiful and classic and the surroundings should provide all the color I need :)  I absolutely agree with you about the unique feeling - apparently we have good taste!  Adam and I decided  that we will not be using a DJ.  We both wanted everything to be low key and relaxed and I've never been that thrilled about cheesy DJs at weddings.  We won't be doing cake cutting, first dances.....  We plan on making an iPod playlist for the bonfire to sing and dance to.  My group will be rowdy enough!  So far we have 30 people booked - all very close friends and family. Sooooo, how about yours???

Megs - I have an ongoing list of pictures and things I have seen from different sites so I just keep on posting them to a word file!!!  I am so excited - when are you getting married?  I am April 13th - it would be soo neat if we are down there around the same time.  Maybe we can help each other plan along the way!!!!  I wish I had thirty ppl booked so far lol!  I am assuming I will have about 20-25 ppl there, but you never know.  The booking deadline is Jan 10th - so hopefully we have a good idea of how many ppl will be there by then.  I agree with you about a cheesy DJ vibe..but my family really likes to dance, and I like the idea of a dance floor with some chinese lanterns around it on the beach.  I guess it will depend on how many ppl come.  We are also having a cigar roller if enough ppl come!  But I am all about a non cheesy wedding!

If you are still open to options, you may want to consider working with Vivana with mypuntacanaweddings.com.

I used her for flowers and transporation for my wedding. I didn't find out about her until two months before my wedding, but if I would have known about her before, I would have had her coordinate everything offsite for my wedding. They are an event planning company. I just got married at PPR on Nov 21 and I am working on my review now to post on this site, but I would recommend this company. She is local and is able to find unique locations that fit in your budget. My flowers were half the price of what i would have paid at the resort.  if you  want to see pictures or anything before i post them, just private message me. My review is long so its taking me a few days since i just got back from our honeymoon

Megsosborn - yes - I will definitely let you know what we decide! We are 100% having our reception at the Jellyfish, and now just deciding whether to also have the ceremony there, or go to the Tortuga Bay country club first! I like that they have both the upstairs and the beach as ceremony options....are you getting married there as well? What did you decide for your ceremony?

Lovelytlc - your pictures are so beautiful! And I loved your flowers....thanks so much for the suggestion on the DMC. I will have to check them out!

thank you!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
