I would call them. The reason why it takes so long sometimes is b/c they have to confirm the availablity of the judge. I called them after a week or 2 after getting my confirmation #. They confirmed everything over the phone and then sent me an email confirmation soon after. From what I have heard the judges like to have more than 1 marriage a day, if your booking far in advanced it takes more time to confirm. The important thing is you have your time and location confirmed.

Hey Riubride,

I am also getting married at the RIU in October. I have my date confirmed along with A time.....not the time I want. As long as you have a confirmation number you should be good to go. Did it not have the date posted on the confirmation somewhere? What date did you want?

Riubride,

Sorry I think I am confused and confusing you in the process. I think my TA did the initial request and then she got a confirmation number. The confirmation number was passed onto me (you have to go to the RIU website and log in and fill out a bunch of info). Then the confirmation of the time and date etc. will be emailed to you after this second step of the process. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

no worries. my travel agent told to request the date & so forth. It's no big deal. I just hope I get the day I want & the time I want (i'll keep my fingers crossed) I will ask her to follow up with the WC if i don't hear from the hotel by Friday.

Riu bride,

I really don't think you will have any trouble getting your date and time since it is still 10 months away. I heard that the RIU books up really fast and all but so far it seems that if anything we are trying to do all this stuff too far in advance so far (which I would definitely prefer). Good luck and let us know when you hear from the RIU.

If you don't mind me asking, where are you from in Canada?

Thanks Kim. I really hope I don't have a problem getting a date & time. If i don't hear from the WC then I will give them a call sometime this weekend.

I'm from Toronto. But I have to say that I really love Calgary. I was there for a business trip and I fell in love with the city.

Aimee.

Aimee, I would definatly call. I got my date confirmed at the RIU in Cancun, but it took me about 6 days total and I called nearly every day. They said the had an account for another person who seemed to have a similar name to me. Anyway, It took a couple calls before I got the real answer. The girl I spoke with was really patient even with the frequent calls. In my situation, Diana, the woman I spoke with, said that she just emails the pastor or judge and waits to hear back from them. She told me that most often the date is fine, bc it is reserved, but they need the definate from the judge. I know how you feel, because I could not rest easy until I had the confirmation!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
