How are you getting your dress to your DW?

Recommended Posts

If  your dress exceeds the maximum carry on allowance they can "ask" you to check it.  Most bridal shops are aware of the difficulties and can pack your dress to fit in a carry on bag. If you just have your dress in a garment bag and it is super big you might have trouble. Try to be among the first to board so that there might be more room to store your dress. I plan on having my dress steamed at the resort, so it will be packed into a tiny package for carry on.

As of now, I'm planning on carrying it on in the garment bag that came with the dress.  Due to the volume of the skirt with the pickups and such, it can't really squeeze it into a small bag.  I do however plan on calling my airline a month or so ahead of time to see if i'll be able to arrange to hang it somewhere on the plane if I carry it on.

I'm carrying my dress on and I dare them to try and take it away from me!  I'll sit with it on my lap if I have to but I am definitely not going to check it.  It's small enough where I can place it in an overhead compartment on top of our suitcases.

I read somewhere that you should try and board first and the flight attendants might offer to put your dress in the first class closet.  And of course, be super friendly to all the airline staff at check-in and at the gate so they don't try to make you check it.

I have the major problem with my dress. It is now in Poland - from there I need to take it to London, then few days later it's travelling with me to Maine, and for the wedding we are flying to St. Thomas in USVI. I decided to keep it in my carry on all the time - that's why I bought the special travel box for travelling with the dress. It was £45 and I got it in London http://www.emptybox.co.uk/

I just got it today and the box seems really solid and it's so pretty:)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
