Iberostar Rose Hall reception questions

Recommended Posts

Hello ladies!

I'm very close to deciding on Iberostar Rose Hall Suites for our wedding next fall.  I like everything about the resort, but I have a few concerns about the options for the reception/ dinner.  I have tons of questions, so bear with me.

We don't know the size of our party yet, but probably 15-35 people (probably more like 20 though).  As I understand it, the only way we can have a private dinner is if we have at least 25 people, in which case we can rent the Mediterranean restaurant, or if we have at least 50 people then the Steakhouse.  How strict are they with the number of people for the steakhouse?  I don't think we'll have 50.  In the info booklet I have, it specified that the Calabash can be booked private too, but doesn't specify the minimum number of guests.  Does anyone know?

My other question is, for the non-private dinner, how would you solve the issue of speeches, dancing, music, etc?  Do they section off a section of the restaurant and you can do as you wish within that section?  We'd like a traditional reception that runs into the wee hours of the morning, but I'm not sure how accomodating they will be.

My other concern is the lack of selection in food.  I'm a very picky eater, and don't even like most of the entrees that are listed.  Is there any way to have a buffet dinner, even if it costs extra?

I would also love to hear other suggestions for resorts, that would be in the same price range but more flexible with the reception and food.

Thanks so much, ladies!

Hi Starrysim!

I am in the same situation as you are, trying to decide between the suites and the beach resort (we have a few kids coming, so we can't go to the grand)

I have seen the wedding packages for both the beach and the suites, they look pretty much the same. You can rent out the private restuarant for $800, coctail hours $10 per person etc. The suites has a few different locations for the wedding (beach, terrace, pool gardens) I'm not sure if you have to have 25 people to rent out the restuarant though...I think we will be having about 40. Tripadvisor rates the suites as #2 in Jamaica and nobody ever has anything bad to say about it! Thats a big factor for me, knowing how everyone else has rated the resort.

I'm just waiting on travel agents for pricing before I book, it seems like they are taking forever to get back to me with prices! Oh well, this is the fun of it all!   cheesy.gif

I guess we both have the same info so far.  I'd love to know how your experience is with booking the date and making the initial plans.  What date are you hoping to get?  We're looking at next November or maybe October, but won't be booking for another month or two.

I am looking for the first week in November, I think 2, 3, 7 9  were still available during that time frame as of last week. I'm waiting to hear back from Air Canada Vacations...their quote for the beach resort seemed cheap, so I'm waiting to hear about the suites...then I will secure a date. I'm guessing you just give them a deposit to hold the date, their info says they bill the rest of the wedding cost to your room and you just put it on  your credit card when you check out. Hopefully we will have a wedding date before Christmas! I will keep my fingers crossed !!

Hello Ladies! I am also contemplating Iberostar for January 2012 and my head is spinning as I try to sort this all out. I'd love to hear if anyone knows of costs involved if you have 50 or so guests for the actual wedding. I seriously have sore eyes from trying to read all the reviews and threads etc!!!

So that's the same time window as me :)  I'm afraid it will be all booked up by the time I get around to it, but I've told the BF I'm not booking before I have a ring (we're not technically engaged yet).  What are the price quotes you're getting for the actual vacation (ie. for the guests).  Looking ahead to next November, it looks so expensive, but when I was looking in September/October for this November, it was ~$1300-1400 (incl taxes).  Does that sound about right?  I would hate to book it and then find that it will be more expensive for the guests than we intended.

Hi,

This is my very first post, so please be patient with me :) Did you ever get your answers to the reception questions? I would love to talk to someone via e-mail or something that is also looking at, booked or had a wedding at this Iberostar and may be wiling to share some information. Do you know the max at the Mediterranean? or how many people they can accommodate for a non-private dinner reservation. We were thinking about doing a non private dinner and then doing a private cocktail hour. Has anyone gotten information and pricing on having a cocktail hour?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
