Oyster colored dress....what does FI wear???

Recommended Posts

I've been searching for this topic and have yet to come across so I'm reaching out to anyone with some advice.  My dress is oyster colored and I love it.  However, white looks horrific when you put it beside it.  I'm at a loss on what to do about FI's attire. We are ordering him a tan linen suit, but do I just go with the white shirt even though it looks horrible or use another alternative of a natural color or something?  If anyone has had an oyster or even ivory colored dress what did you do?

My dress is in the following thread

Are you committed to the tan linen? My BFF just got married in oyster and had this same issue which we agonized over!! We (I planned the wedding) ordered her FI a gray seersucker suit - it looked amazing. I think his shirt was white but because his suit basically matched her dress, it looked great. Or, if you can deal with a black suit in the heat, black suit and pale gray shirt. Your dress is fairly formal so you could definitely carry that off.

If you are doing tan linen no matter what, you could do a soft white shirt, you know the off-white color that beach shirts sometimes are? And take a swatch of your dress to wrap his boutonniere - that way you have a tie-in.

We are getting married ONE WEEK before you!!

Does white really look that bad? I would think the combination of a tan suit, oyster dress, and a white short on him would blend together fine as they're all neutral colours. Maybe I just can't picture it right in my head.

If you're set on the tan suit (which I think would look nice), why not a coloured shirt to match your wedding colour?? My FI is going a little untraditional and his shirt is matching the same colour as our BM dresses, which is turqouise. Our groomsmen will wear white shirts and my dress is white.

I originally thought that white would be fine but I pulled out a white dress shirt of his and put it up next to my dress and they look awful next to each other.  I just found an 'almond' colored dress shirt at Macy's online so I'm going to go tonight to look at it with a piece of the fabric from my dress.  I'm hoping this will be a much better option for us.

Omg girls.. I'm having the same problem!! I haven't bought the dress yet cause I'm confused about my colors also. I'm thinking of having my dress oyster my FI in a tan suit and then the BM in red dresses and the groomsman in tan pants and white shirts... But I'm not 100% on it yet. What do you gals think???

Originally i wanted to have the BM in champagne dresses with red roses but ...now I'm just totally confused :(  I wonder if the red will be too much..

I mean really is the oyster really that noticeable??

Please help............

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
