Angie1017's Wedding Planning Journal

Recommended Posts

Well, thought I'd do this now while I have some free time at work.  We leave in 2 weeks, on December 12th, I can't believe it!

We are getting married at the Gran Bahia Principe Tulum on December 16, 2010.  We were supposed to be getting married at the Grand Riviera Princess, but due to the explosion that happened there, we were forced to change resorts.  We feel so blessed we weren't at the resort when that happened, and my thoughts and prayers go out to those who lost their lives that day.  The Gran Bahia has been amazing, and so accommodating to us and our guests.  We were able to keep our wedding date, and everything has worked out for the better!

So, without further adieu, my planning thread!  :)

Rings:

My dress is Alfred Angelo, Sapphire collection.  I've modified it a little.  The back now has a lace up back, but the bows are still on.

FI is wearing grey shorts we bought online from JC Penny, an RW & Co. shirt, and a coral skinny tie.  His groomsmen will wear the same, but without a tie.

We will be buying maracas in Mexico and putting them on each guests plate at the reception dinner.  We have little tags that on one side will say the guests name (works as a place card) and on the other side it says "Instead of tapping on your glass, here's a system with Mexican class.  Stand and shake with all your might, to see the groom kiss his bride tonight!"

Thanks!  We aren't bringing anything down decor-wise.  We are having a reception dinner at a restaurant, and they apparently place flowers that match the centerpiece I chose for the judges table at the ceremony on the tables.  Then we are having a private poolside cocktail reception, and they decorate with lights, and candles and decorate the cake table.  So I'm just going to leave it up to them :)  Less for me to worry about!

At our AHR in February we attempt these for our centerpieces...

And I've bought tissue paper poms to hang from the ceiling in coral, turquoise and ivory...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
