EDR -- Tucanes location for reception?

Recommended Posts

Who has been there or seen this location?

Needing some help visualizing it as the feedback we're getting from Valeria on what we can or can't do is a bit odd. We're having a 2 hour cocktail with tall tables and appetizers. Then a 2 hr dessert buffet.

We're wanting to set it up for music and dancing. Our plan was scatter tables around the periphery of the pool for the cocktail hour. Arrive a half hour into the reception with our wedding party. Start with our first dance, mother-son, etc... Get into everyone dancing by the time they bring out the desserts. Sounds liek the "dance floor" is uncovered near the palapa.

Was hoping to set up round tables and chairs under the cover for everyone to sit during the ceremony if they wanted to. Also a place to relax and watch as we're putting together a DVD of our childhood histories and then our time together...

If you've seen this spot and have ideas on how we might set things up, please reply. Any other helpful info on Tucanes would be great...

Anybody who has been at the resort or had a reception here have any light to shed on the topic? We're wanting to do round tables with seating for approx 50 guests. Valeria keeps telling us that we can't have that type of seating and cocktail tables as wellhuh.gif Not sure why.

Unfortunately, Jennifer & I only have the 2 pics the resort has sent us of the location, and they make it kind of hard to envision the whole place...

I visited the resort, but don't remember Tucanes all that well in person. I have seen some pictures on TripAdvisor:

Click candid traveler photos at the top. There are also a lot of people's wedding setup photos. Be warned: they give away a lot of the little things that would be surprises when you get to the resort. I am sure it will still be amazing, but not a surprise after you look at the pictures.

I am wondering if anyone knows if one of the ceremony sites is sand bag free. I did a site visit awhile ago and was almost postiive one end of the beach had an area without sand bags where weddings could take place. When I asked the WC about this she did not know what I was talking about. Am I losing my mind?

I'm having my wedding there in a month.. I am having a reception after dinner on the beach by the beach bar instead of the disco... They are open to what ever.. I am bringing christmas lights to hang.. more of a casual resort wedding but very nice.. The beach is fine and no sandbags.. It's on teh south side by the fence for the ceremony or you can have it in the jungle area.. I am moving mine down by the water.. they will work with you on that also.. I will let you know how mine goes..

I've been told that there used to be some sandbag free sites, but that they have continued to add them to prevent beach erosion and protect the resort from storms (see Hurricane Dean...)

I can't tell you for sure, but hopefully someone who is headed down soon can check that out and post for us...

Sorry to tell you this, but there's sandbags at that area... Check out the map below. Maybe you aren't having it by the Beach Bar or I misunderstood something else... The Beach bar is right near Jo-Jos near the pier that goes out into the water...

Click here for Google Maps. Beach Bar location is basically right in the middle.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
