2nd wedding/marriage?

Recommended Posts

I am so glad you started this thread!!  This is a second marriage for both of us as well.  We are getting married at Beaches Turks & Caicos.  I have a 12 year old daughter that will very much be part of our ceremony.  We plan on doing the sand ceremony (with the 3 of us) and then we are going to also do a medallion ceremony.  We will present my daughter with a 3-ring necklace that symbolizes our new family.

This time around is also very different for me as well.  The first was 100% traditional all the way right down to the ice sculptures and the 200 guests!  This time,  informal, on the beach with just my parents and my daughter as our guests.

So what are you wearing this time around?  I ended up with a Maggie - Ireland and I love it but had a hard time finding something less formal.  I'm not wearing a veil.  I felt kind of stupid shopping for wedding dresses at 40 years old.

I have a 15 year old son and am struggling with how to include him.  He'll walk me down the aisle but not sure what else to do.

We are expecting mostly close friends and family - 30 people about.

I have found a dress on line that was similar to some that I have tried on and I loved it.  I am having a "knock-off" made of this dress because I couldn't find the actual one where I live.  I am not sure who the original designer is.  The only change I am making is I am not having a train on the dress.  I also felt somewhat odd shopping for a wedding dress in the bridal shops.  We are in the same boat here!  I am not wearing a veil either.  I am just going to have a flower in my hair.

I am 49 and need to lose about 40 lbs, my dress shopping experience was not good at first, then I just started to laugh about it.  All the sample sizes were a 6 lol and I am a 16 so you can just imagine.  I ended up also with a Maggie I just love her dresses I am going next month to get measured and order the ODESSA.

I have about 12 coming also family and close friends.  I am getting married July 8, 2011 Couples Sans Souci Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Getting married in June 2012, Riviera Maya. I think I will have one of my sons walk me down the aisle and my other stand next to FH. They will be our Best Men.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
