It's quite close to Playa Del Carmen. I think it was only a 10 to 15 minute cab ride, closer to 10. Quite cheap by taxi - but they told us to make sure you decide on the rate before you get in the cab! The resort didn't have shuttles unfortunately, but there were tons of cabs available both to the resort and in the town so it was never an issue.

Hey Jamie!  Don't worry I have read all your posts and also we conversed a little on the Karisma Facebook page!!  I do have a few questions I can think of for you now though....

did you do any group tours?

did you get the rosepetals... trying to figure out how many to get?

We are planning our reception (dinner/cake/toast only) on the beach, but do you think Lizard's would better?  Is that close to the beach/overlook beach?

We also want somewhere to hang lights and/or paper lanterns for the reception.  My W/C said there wasn't anywhere, but now she said we can wrap 3 palm trees with lights... thoughts?

Did they make you a signature cocktail at no charge?  (can't remember if that was you or someone else!)

How much cash did you bring?

Did you bring any of your own decorations?

I know that is a TON of questions, but since the Fives board is so small... you are all I've got!! :)

Thanks again!!!

Hey there - no worries at all.  Let me see if I can help you!

We didnt do any group tours, but the animation team member did take us to Coco Bongo (highly recommended you go there - such a fun night club!).

We didnt get rose petals so I cant help you there.

Id say do the beach over lizards as lizards is more 'inward' on the resort and no ocean view.

I think lights around the palm trees would be super cute - go for it!

We didnt get a signature cocktail at our reception althgouh that sounds really cool!

We brought about 1500 cash just to be safe...Some how we ended up using it but I cant even think of what we spent it on...LOL!

We did bring our own decorations for the aisle chairs and then they went on the tables at dinner! I didnt want to pay for fresh flowers and Im very crafty so I just brought them.

Hope this helps - ask anything else you need to :)

Thanks for the help!  Good to know about Lizards...  we are just having the dinner/cake/toast and I am starting to worry that it won't be "fun" enough!  But this is our second time around and we really didn't want the full reception, etc. I know it will be great and just what we want!!

Thanks again!!

HELLO,

Our wedding is at the Azul Fives on May 7th, 2011 and i wanted to know how was the skye terrace view. From the pics ive the view is great. So i changed the ceremony to the skye terrace and will keep the private beach reception. Do they have daily entertainment for my guest that choose not to traveled off the resort? Also what did you use for centerpieces as i have not chosen that as of yet. Also wanted to know for the music we hired DJ Mannia for our reception but for the ceremony, we have no music. They said they have a few wedding songs that are really nice. Are they really? Did you use one of their's?

I am hoping Jamie can answer you, since my wedding is not until next month... maybe you are already on your way since your wedding is this weekend???

We are going to be married on the beach and are planning on buying centerpieces (vases with sand & shells) at the market in Playa.  Another Bride did this and I would like to save the $$.  We are also doing engagement photos in a frame that matches the color/theme.  We are brining our songs for the wedding on our iPod.

Congrats and best of luck!  Please come back and let us know how it went!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
