If money was no object...

If money was no object, we wouldn't be eloping! We'd get him the fiance visa, we'd get married in my church in my hometown, with all our family and friends around us, we'd fly in all his family and friends, we'd have the flowers, the dresses, the suits, we'd have a reception, we'd have our first dance..oh and an exotic honeymoon - ITALY!

But...that's not do-able and I'm actually really looking forward to eloping, it just seems so exciting and romantic :) It doesn't quite feel real though, I don't have any real planning or stress, so it hasn't sunk in that I'm getting married next month LOL And we'll have a week in Canada as a honeymoon, I've always wanted to go to Canada so that's pretty cool :D

The paying for family and friends thing is definitely a great idea.  What's funny is that we were already planning to pay for several friends and family who we thought couldn't afford it.  Turns out, most of them can afford it anyway.  So now we are looking into paying for everyone's (roundtrip) airport transportation back at home.  I think it is a nice touch.

when did you decide you were eloping?!?

We decided a few months ago, so not quite as spontaneous as I'd have liked :P But compard to the usal 1-2 years people spend planning, I think we look pretty spontaneous! We booked the marriage commissioner just after Christmas (only got engaged Christmas Day!), but we've been talking about eloping and looking into it since about September :) We plan on having a kind of "symbolic ceremony" or "renewal of vows" in a couple of years, we'll probably have it on our 1 or 2 year anniversary :) So it's the best of both worlds - the fun, exciting, romantic part of eloping, then the big ceremony and dress and general awesomeness of a church wedding :)

If money was no object yet I was still eloping, I'd do it in a hot air balloon or on a boat I think :) Or maybe in a more exotic place like Italy or the top of the Niagra Falls :)

If money was no object...I would pay for all our guests. Private jet (economy class with kids kicking your seat is enough to want to pay for plane parking fees) to an all-inclusive (including spa treatments) private exotic island. Would have entertainers (i.e. Pitbull & Machel Montano) making sure we partied like it was 1999! hehe

If money were no object I would pay for all of my guests to go on a wonderful and memorable excursion together. And create more ever lasting memories together.

I wouldn't offer to pay for all guests' way because then people who are not that close to me would want to go for the free trip. And the main reason I am having a destination wedding is so that only my most important people in my life come. I get nervous infront of large crowds and I want the wedding to be small and intimate.

If money was no object, (I know this is blasphemy) I wouldn't have had a DW.  My wedding would have been in an all-white loft in midtown manhattan with 250 guests with royal blue decorations.  I would have John Legend sing me down the aisle ( I had someone sing his song instead) and my reception would be more of an all star concert.   Just saying....  BTW, I loved my wedding and the price in JA!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
