Beaches ~ Turks & Caicos Roll Call!

Recommended Posts

31 days til my day!! I have had the worst two weeks everrrr (stomach virus for 10 days and then got in a car accident) and honestly can't wait until we get to the island and can relax and then say our I Dos! I'm pretty much done with everything, just have to finish up the OOT bags and welcome letter. Oh and get a gift for my MOH but that's easy :) and I gotta pick my boudouir favs and get those in a book for my fiancé. May ladies can you believe it's so close?!?!? I'm SO EXCITED!!!!

Congrats Jillvella!  Great review!  My wedding is in 23 days and I'm so excited!  I have some questions for you...You mentioned that your husband hung his tux in the captain's closet on AA flight- did you have to ask them if they could do this or did they assume it would need to be hung?  I've called AA and they said my dress would have to lay in the overhead bin, but I'm assuming they're just saying that as their standard rule.  Did you also have a carry-on bag?  How did you like the location for your dinner reception?  I'm anxious to see the locations in person.  After your ceremony when you and your husband signed the papers, you said it was quick....do you think there's enough time to play a full length song while doing this?  Also, the cake cutting is done before dinner?  We have 24 guests attending our wedding in a couple weeks.  We plan to wed on the beach,  We have made our own cd's with all the music we want played while guests seat (curious how long they will sit for before I walk down the isle?) and during the ceremony, we have hired the steel drum player for cocktail hour, and also hired the dj for our 3 hour reception.  If you could let me know your thoughts on any of these things or any other words of advice, that'd be great!  Your pictures look amazing!  I cannot wait!

Hi Linzayr -

The airline was great- as soon as they saw the dress and the tux bags, they were very eager to help us.  They reccomended the first class closet for the tux and the overhead bin for the dress due to the size.  The only other items we carried on were our personal items (my purse and his backpack).  I loved the adult jacuzzi deck for our wedding reception - it was the perfect space, quiet and over looking the ocean.  I had 32 people, so your 24 guests should fit just fine.  Tables have 8 people to each, so you should have plenty of space to dance. All the formalities, cake cutting, first dance, father/mother dance, are all done before dinner is served.  Our MOH/BM gave the speeches during dinner.

As for the reception, I think our guests were seated for about 20 mins before the ceremony started.  They all met at 3:30 and walked over to the ceremony and I was pretty on time, so I estimate I walked down the aisle pretty close to 4 p.m.  I honestly don't remember how long it took to sign the papers, I know the steel drum player was playing a song, but I don't remember what it was.  Basically you and your groom sign 5 of the same document and then the BM and MOH (or your witnesses) also sign.  then the officiant signs and seals and then he announces you as Mr. and Mrs.

Hope this helps.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
