Beaches ~ Turks & Caicos Roll Call!

Recommended Posts

So we are leaving in four weeks and the dreams are starting. Last night I dreamt I got in a fight at one of the Beaches restaraunts becausse I didn't tip the waiter.  Can someone confirm that we do NOT need to tip the servers or bar tenders at meals??  The only thing I think we need to dip is at the salon and the butler, as those are seperate services. Am I right? I'm getting very anxious!

@Trimalusta,

Oh my!  Those don't sound like fun dreams!  I'm sure I'll get the same jitters in the weeks before my wedding too, but try to focus on how beautiful the water looks, what the waves will sound like, and how no matter what little things may not go exactly as planned, you won't be any less married.  I am excited for you :-)

Hmmm.  Everything I remember seeing says that tipping is prohibited while on property at Beaches T&C, except for your butler (if you have one), spa services (except remember that they may already automatically tack on a "service charge" for some of the tip, it just depends on if you want to supplement a tip over the 12% - 14% they already charge - just pay attention to your receipt), and then the cost/ tip of the after 6pm "after hours" babysitting/ nannies... Also, I remember reading that some folks get confused at the airport and PAY for a taxi or shuttle to Beaches, but that the resort provides that at no charge on their official shuttle bus.  I hope some of the others that have been there can add or clarify :-)

Also, I called to find out what was going on with my WC and spoke to Monica.  She is still there, just isn't a WC anymore.  I am not sure what she does now.  But my new WC is Roxy, and I am supposed to talk to her on Friday afternoon.  Yay!

Trimalusta -

We tried to tip the gentleman who carried our bags to the room and he declined my husband's $$.  We did not tip anyone, EXCEPT for the folks at the Spa and we did an snorkle trip and tipped the captain and his helper on the boat (and they accepted).  Other than that, we didn't tip anyone else - and still got FANTASTIC service. cheesy.gif

I tipped for the spa services, I believe we tipped the guy from the shuttle bus that removed all our luggage and stuff, lets see I do know that my dad tipped the pastor, he seemed to be hanging around after the ceremony so my dad assumed he was waiting for a tip, we also tipped the waiters at our welcome dinner bc they did such a great job, they made sure everyone had a drink at all times, they literally stayed at our table and only our table. And Im pretty sure my dad tipped the WC and the bartenders but Im not 100% sure on the bartenders if he did, and they all gladly took the tips.

Hi Emilie, Just send an email, Ileana can give you an estimate when they will be available.  We have had a record breaking busy year and still want to give the attention of detail in editing to every bride.

All of our staff takes some holiday time in August and September (our slowest months) as most of them have been working solid from March-July and we've been unusually busy for August this year (Andy had to postpone joining us in the states for holiday by a week because of last minute bookings).   Kelly just returned and David is due back end of the week, Andy is off for 10 days and Ileana heads out in September.    Do not expect any response for 3 days as we are prepping for Hurricane Irene this morning who is due to hit us head on today and tomorrow (all hard drives/computers and equipment are stored in a closed room, everything is put away and boarded up and then our staff has to have time to prep their homes).  It's looking to be major, so power could be out for a few days or so after she passes.  We'll update as we can.  I would suggest sending the email this weekend or early next week.  I can check for you next week as well, just send me a PM reminder.

We take hurricanes very seriously and make sure all of our data is backed up and stored as well as possible, but we also make sure we give all of our team plenty of time to prep for their own homes (as well as time to unboard after it passes and then put everything back together at the office).  Getting ready on island for a category 2/3 takes a ton of physical work.  We'll update on the island after the hurricane passes on the blog to keep future brides updated.  We find photos to show that we're still standing helps a lot.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
