Beaches ~ Turks & Caicos Roll Call!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, we leave on Wed. so just finalizing everything, the only thing I am really unsure about now is the music and reception time. Looking for suggestions/advice...

Our wedding is at 4pm on the beach and I have booked a 2 hour reception. I have heard about bringing an IPod/player for music and then again there is the option of DJ or Band?

Also, not sure if the reception should start right at 5 or if we should add some sort of cocktail time to it before the 2 hour starts? Also as far as music for the actual ceremony.. do we pick that out and bring it? First dance? Thanks everyone for your help!! I am sooooooo glad I booked Tropical Imaging for 2 days after the wedding.. I really really wish they could shoot our whole wedding :(

Finally done with the pre-wedding stuff.. and added a few pictures in my album. I ended up doing the real touch flowers and making my bouquet and my daughters bouquet myself. Turned out cute, now I just have to figure out how to transport! Gift bags are ready and packed!

Carole, I thought the 2 hour private reception was plenty, and Im so glad we didnt do the cocktail hour before because there was enough food during the reception had we of had a cocktail hour before hand I dont think everyone would have been able to eat the main course!

We pushed our reception back to 6 (ceremony was at 4) but that was only bc we were meeting Ileana for photos

Music is a perference, and what your budget allows for, we really enjoy the calypso band, we had them for the whole 2 hours, everyone really enjoyed them.

As far as music for the ceremony goes, you can bring your own if you want, if not they will give you some tracks to listen to during your meeting and you can pick one of those, you do have to bring your music for your first dance, either on a cd or an ipod.

Thanks Brandy,

I wanted to do exactly that, meet her for pictures right after the ceremony but she was already booked, I tried almost a year ago. (So that answers the question earlier.. I would book as SOON as you can if you know you want to use her).  Glad we atleast get to do the TTD a few days later.

That is a good point about the food.. I think I will stick with just the 2 hour reception. How was the weather at 6? Still super hot and sunny?

What kind of music did the band play for you?

Sorry for all the questions.. Im just having last minute thoughts!

OMG!  Guys I'm freaking out... I just looked at the weather forecast and they are predicting rain for everyday that we are there, even my wedding day!  I feel like there was so much planning, hard work, and money that went into this, I don't want it to be ruinned!  A beach wedding was my dream wedding.  I don't want to have gone through all of this trouble to have my dream wedding, and end up having to get married in a building without all the family and friends that I would have had at a local wedding.  I don't know what to do, I'm freaking out!!!

Every source that I looked at during planning said the same thing:  that turks and caicos does not get much rain over the course of a year.  What are the odds of having 50% and 60% chances for every day that we are there?

I just returned from 8 days there, and it rained almost everyday, but normally for only about 15-30 minutes, and then it blew over and was sunny again.  There were 2 days that were kinda cloudy, but it was still nice out.  I didn't put on sunscreen on 1 of those cloudy 2 days and I still got burned!   Don't worry...it will be fine!  Just an FYI- the weather forecast on my wedding day was 60% chance of rain and I think it barely rained that day and it was very sunny!

Stop looking at the weather reports!  I will repeat myself, Stop looking at the weather reports!  Our weather is really funny here and we rarely get a wash out kind of day (except for the rare hurricane).  In the past week we have had rain but about 15-20 minutes worth and then hot sun, clear blue skies etc.  It can literally be pouring down at my friends house 2 miles away and clear blue skies at my house.  This morning we woke up to rain on the south side of the island (for about 30 minutes, but I can see the north side (grace bay) has clear blue skies and all nice and dry.  We've had less than 6 inches of rain this year....you'll be fine.

Andy shot a wedding on Saturday where the skies opened up an hour before the wedding and then had a gorgeous ceremony....the blog photos are here so you can see for yourself

So, first, Breathe...second, STOP LOOKING AT the WEATHER REPORTS! and third don't worry about things you can't control.   The weather will be what it will be, but I promise you will have a lovely day if you just enjoy it!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
