Beaches ~ Turks & Caicos Roll Call!

Recommended Posts

Hello Ladies! I am little less than 5 months away from the big day and I am starting to get a little nervous!!! I have a few questions that I am hoping that some of you past brides will be able to help me with. My first question is as far as the OOT bags did you guys give them out prior to departure or once everyone had arrived? If done at arrival, how did you travel with them? The next question is for all of you that brought your own flowers what do you recommend for traveling with them to ensure they do not get crushed or messed up in any way? Any help with these things would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks so much in advance =]

Hello Ladies,

So my FI and I have decided to change our DW from Nassau, Bahamas to Beaches Turks & Caicos. It's funny how things go because T&C was the first island I originally said when we discussed getting married. I ruled it out right away though because I said it would be too expensive for my family and friends so we chose Nassau. Long story short, there were sue very unfavorable reviews about the location we originally chose in Nassau and I took that as a sign. When we were originally working on details I had reservations about the property but I went along with it anyway because I wanted things to be affordable for the guests.  Anyway, I went back to looking at T&C and my FI said let's do it! I will be working on the details tomorrow.

Question for you all, did you use a TA or just work with Beaches directly? I called Beaches about a different location and received the specials and pricing info, and then I spoke to a TA who gave me the same pricing info and incentives that the resort offered directly. So I then asked the TA about flight info and was advised that they would provide my guests flight assistance as long as they booked their stay at Beaches through them. Is it really worth it? I mean at that point, my guests would most likely start looking at expedia and travelocity and the like and find their flights, so what's the advantage with the TA?  I'm very confused.

Thanks ladies, I'm super excited now!

Hi Kisha 311,

I used a TA, for the following reasons:

  1. It would give anyone I invited another person to call and ask ALL their questions
  2.  someone to deal with the last minute folks.
  3. It would give them someone else to call besides me! oh yeah I mentioned that already (Haa Haa)

I knew I would not have to time or patience to deal with trying to get however many people's travel arrangements together. The TA I used stated that if people wanted to book just the rooms with her that was fine, and they could look for their own flight but if someone found a flight that was cheaper they would go and look for that exact same flight. The prices that the TA offer and what the resort offer should be the same, the only difference may be how everyone handles group bookings (if you are blocking off rooms). One difference was she offered insurance (for a price of course) that the airline's are not. I am sure they have the insurance where you can get your airfare back but this also covered any money that you paid for the room as well. I suggested that all of my guest get it, and thank goodness I did. We had two guest cancel last month, and they were able to get ALL their money back minus the insurance cost.  My TA also helped me make a brochure for the people who were on the fence because they thought it was expensive. So we made a little brochure so they could see everything that they were paying for, plus it was nice having someone else on your side when the crazy family drama starts about your destination wedding (I don't wish that on anyone).  I will say this not all TA's are made equal, I was going to  work with one until she made a smart a** comment about something to me and we were done from that point, so make sure it is someone that you can work with if you do decide to use one.  I hope this helps.

We'll do photos after the cocktail reception and then meet up at one of the restaurants. The reason we did that is because Roxi was telling us we had to choose 1 thing for each course for the private dinner. There is NO WAY we could do this to our guests. So I think one of the restaurants is our best bet.

A week from today I'll be in Turks already!!! Woohoo!!!!! :))

This is good to know, I am going to be adding this as well, but I will do it once we get to the resort...good thing I will only be using it for the hour. Tomorrow is the big day....Super excited for you guys. cheer2.gif

mdcoug - thanks so much for the advice. I have had one TA bring up wedding insurance for us and travel insurance for the guests. She has been very nice thus far so I thinking about it seriously, I know my work schedule gets hectic so trying to worry about people's flight arrangements are the last thing I want to deal with. As for family drama regarding a destination wedding, oh please that's already started. I just ignore them now and say you either come or you don't. It's up to you if you want to come, but they make me feel guilty. Anyway, I'm excited for you!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
