Beaches ~ Turks & Caicos Roll Call!

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I was just catching up with Andy on island (I'm off island visiting the US), and he told me they finally found the virus about 7-10 days ago and have removed it from the site and have taken preventive measures so it won't happen again.  So the blog now is all clear with lots of new posts.

I am brand new to this blog and newly engaged. My fiance and I are thinking about having our destination wedding at Beaches Turks and Caicos. We were wondering if anyone would be able to send us the wedding package file from Beaches? We were hoping for an elegant and inexpensive wedding but after looking at the blogs, it is making my head spin! We were hoping to have a small ceremony with approximately 30 guests. We were thinking about hosting a small reception but it looks like it is quite expensive. Did the facility have any objections to hosting small dinner receptions at one of the restaurants? If anyone could send me some information @ Karelo1018@gmail.com I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

MTruvillio ,

I emailed you the Beaches T&C June sales kit Monica emailed to me last month.  I would try to upload here as a document for general info, but she sent it as a google document and I am having some technical difficulties...I hope it helps!

Hey ladies...whats' going on wth everyone!! Seems like summer is a slow time around here....I have still really done nothing, i have picked up a few things for the OTT bags, and i got my MOH a beautiful straw purse yesterday, and thats it :) lol..I just started the shoes hunt since my dress will be in next month, but other than that my days mostly consist of work, beach, garden, pool, and anything else that can be done outside and that is not wedding related :)

On a side note, i did meet with my TA about a month ago and we went over some stuff. We have hit 11 rooms, so we are starting to get some free stuff. We will have a welcome dinner at Marios on Friday night, and we also moved our wedding reception to an area by Schooners that is more roomier than the boardwalk area by the beach.

I am still waiting to hear back from my TA regarding menu options for some of our guest. We are havinf the 3 hour sit down dinner, which once you book 11 rooms goes from $75 to $60. We have people in our group who are vegetarian, kosher, and allergic to fish, so this has been the biggest pain in the but for me, making sure they all get something they can enjoy.

I still have not decided on music. I have to see where we are budget wise, but i would love to have the steel pan player for an hour and the band for 2, but we will see on that.

Also, my TA just emailed me the other day about some pictures she is trying to get for me. She is having a hard time getting them she said because Monica is no longer there, Just an FYI for any of you who have been using her as your contact.

Lizzdee - thanks for the update about Monica, she is (was) my planner.  Would have been nice for the resort to let us know she is no longer there!  Glad you are taking it easy and not stressing.

First off a big thank you to all of you who post and respond to all of these great questions.  I know I'm not a big contributor to this forum YET, but I do read it every day and have found the information to be most helpful, so THANK YOU!

I do have a few questions for you married Ladies - Did you choose your ceremony and reception location prior to arrival at the resort? If so, any suggestions, I'm having 40 - 60 guests. And for those of you who had the 2 or 3 hour reception, were you able to choose a start time or did it have to be immediately after the ceremony?  Reason I am asking is, I am ordering my invitations and would love to include a reception card, indicating the time and place of the reception. Right now my wedding ceremony is scheduled for 4 p.m. and I'd like to start the reception around 6:30 -7:00 p.m.

Also, I want to use real wax seals on my outer envelopes - has anyone done this?  I keep hearing mixed reports that the U.S. Post Office does not allow it.

Thanks,

Jill

Hey Lizzdee!  It sounds like you've had a great, relaxing summer.  Thanks for the heads up about Monica!  She was assigned to me as my WC, but she kept rescheduling via email for the last couple months and we were scheduled to finally speak two weeks from now. Hmm.  Before I call Beaches to be assigned a new WC, is there really any benefit to do this, or is there anything that the "Monica' would do for me besides pre-sell upgrades I probably don't want?

Jillvella, I hope this helps with your question:  My fiance Dennis works for the USPS and said that as far as he knows the USPS still accepts letters with the hand stamped wax seal.  The issue is the automated machinery in the "postal plants" that now sort the mail in the departure and receiving cities may pull the wax seals off the envelopes either completely or in parts.

Everyone, it has been so fun to read what everyone else has planned and is planning!  I am so thankful that the Beaches Turks & Caicos brides are sharing so much great information, especially when Beaches hasn't been communicating with me at all.

It's been almost 2 months since my engagement and I am amazed how much we've already completed!  There are still a lot of little touches and details to handle, such as the, "fun passport invitations or more traditional" debate, but I have over 8 months yet.  My mom and I were at the bridal shop less than 24 hours from the proposal.  I chose the second dress I tried on - you just KNOW when it's right - and they have already completed it for me!   On another sentimental note, we incorporated the diamonds in my grandmother's bridal set into a more modern wedding band to match the engagement ring, and we are just waiting to get it back, plus we have all the other rings plus the veil, shoes, and my options for jewelry.  My sister ordered her MOH dress, plus we scored at some end of summer sales and have the outfits for the best man, my parents, and BIL.  Dennis has two shirt options, and we just need to find some nice linen pants for him.  Oh!  I am really excited about the STD cards we designed in Adobe Illustrator/ Photoshop!  I saw another bride's idea for "vacation sign postcards" in the DIY section a while back and became obsessed with the idea.  My fiance's brother in law (best man) helped us get it done.  He was very patient when I kept changing "font picture" piece in Illustrator, and he created and recreated the final layered project in Photoshop about 3 times to get them just right.  We should get the postcards back from the local printer by the end of the week, and I will try to upload a sample of what we did!  I am so glad we went with a local print business - they are only charging us $18 for 50 finshed postcards with full color on both sides!

Also, I went to my first bridal show last weekend which was fun even though I already either have what I want, or know what I want to do already.  I had hoped to see some options for sand ceremonies, but no one had anything, but  the cupcake sampling was worth it alone!  I signed up to "win" a few of the vendor's contests, and while I didn't really win anything, I am now getting crazy emails and phone calls saying I have been selected to win this or that, but upon digging deeper they really just want me and my fiance to come to various sales presentations where I am eligible to receive hotel vouchers that I must pay for to use.  One of them offers tungsten wedding bands if we show up, but we already have that covered. In any case, I have found this aspect a bit annoying, so I have an idea I would like to pass on to others to consider who haven't been to a bridal show yet:  Create a NEW email address that you will use just for bridal shows or wedding stuff, and don't give out your phone number unless you mean to do business with that vendor.  Once your wedding planning is complete and the honeymoon is over, disable the email account you used specifically for the wedding and you don't have to worry about "unsubscribing" to every email.    I hope it helps someone :)

Those of you that had a sand ceremony, did you use a container that was able to transport the "wedding sand" back home in one piece?  I'd love to add this to the decor of our master bath "tropical oasis", but haven't found a good container yet.  I appreciate any ideas!

Wendy sounds like you have a lot done already!  Great feedback about the bridal show.  I wish I would have seen your comment about the separate email address before I went.  I too got the annoying "free gifts" calls.  smile27.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
