Beaches ~ Turks & Caicos Roll Call!

Sophia I couldn't help but laugh at your weather freak out! hahaha Very valid concern yet very typical right before the wedding bridal break down. Thank you Krys for calming our weather fears, everything you wrote was very well put and very true. I saw a bride in Jamaica get married under a pavilion in the POURING rain last year, and I thought to myself how bad that must have been, but I could tell they made the best of it and enjoyed each other. We just have to keep that in mind just in case! Lauren, great pictures! How hot was it while you were having them done?? Im clearly having a "Im gonna sweat to death" bridal breakdown. haha Sophia what are you doing for music. I think Brandy had mentioned before she felt like it would have been too quiet without the band and I for sure don't want that. I am willing to hire one, I just dont know if I should do a DJ or the band, or just keep it with IPOD music.

I thought I was going to be a sweaty mess too! But suprisingly, there is always a great breeze that keeps you cool. The heat didnt bother me one time while we were down there, and I get hot so easy!

I would not worry about showers, they last minutes when and if they happen. The weather forcast said rain every day too while we were there, and I think it rained twice for less than 5 minutes. Its actually really nice. No worries! :)

Hi Girls,

We had both the calypso band and the DJ and I can honestly say don't spend your money on the DJ.  The calypso band was awesome, the music is caribbean/reggae style and it just fits much nicer being beside the ocean and listening to live music.  Once you're done your reception, you can go to the turtle lounge and have the DJ play whatever you want.  After that you can all go to the liquid disco and continue dancing there (the DJ at liquid is awesome).  The DJ we had at our reception was playing Kanye West songs at dinner time (don't know what he was thinking LOL) but other than that he was okay. If I had to do everything again I would only hire the calypso band.

I tried posting this review in the "review" section, but it kept freezing...so here it is!

We had such an amazing time and wonderful wedding!  Where do I begin?!

AIRPORT- We arrived in the PLS airport, which is very small, and another plane landed right before us, so we had to wait in line for about an hour, which felt like forever because we were so excited to get to the resort!  We grabbed our luggage and went straight to the Beaches area where we were greeted with cold towels.  They put our room number on our luggage and put us in a van and we were on our way!  The driver was really nice- he told us all about the resort on the way there.  It was only about a 10 minute drive.

ROOM- Our room was perfect!  We stayed in the Parrot Cay 1 bedroom Honeymoon suite.  It had a jacuzzi bath tub and separate shower.  The shower was very small, but I didnâ€t care since we had such a nice, huge tub!  The room has a separate living area with a couch, small kitchen-type area with a fridge that was re-stocked all the time w/ soda, water, beer, juices…anything you want!  It also had a microwave.  Both rooms had a sliding glass door which led to the big patio.  We also really liked our room because it was located in the middle of the resort, which was nice!  It was only about a 2-3 minute walk to pretty much anywhere onsite.

POOLS- We hung out at the Italian Village jacuzzi, which is huge, a few times.  There are a ton of kids at that pool.  We mainly hung out at the two pools in the Caribbean Village.  We didnâ€t hang out in the French Village at all.  We hung-out in the waterpark and lazy river for a bit almost every day too, which was fun!!

BEACH- the beach was absolutely gorgeous!!!  We never had a hard time finding a chair, and it didnâ€t feel too crowded.  We did kayaking, water bikes, hobie cats, snorkeling, and then paid extra to ride the banana boat, which was fun!  They also have parasailing, but that too is extra and we didnâ€t feel like it would be worth the cost.

WEDDING- our wedding coordinator was Stacey Ann and she was very nice!  We met with her the day after we arrived at the resort.  We tasted cake, picked our photo package, chose our ceremony music and walked the property and chose the locations for the ceremony and cocktail reception.  On the wedding day, the WC and officiant met my husband and his family in the lobby and escorted them to the gazebo we chose.  Then she came to my room and picked-up me and my family.  She had Jeremy turned around so he wouldnâ€t see me until I walked down the aisle.  It was amazing!!!   We wanted a quick ceremony, so it was only about 2-3 minutes long, and the officiant was great!  Then we took some photos on the deck at Schooners with everyone.  After that, the WC escorted our guests to Turtles Lounge while Jeremy and I took pictures on the beach with the photographer.  We had Patrick as our photographer, and he was great!!

We then went to the boardwalk area and had our 1 hour cocktail reception.  We cut the cake and did a champagne toast, and then ate some hot and cold hors d'oeuvres.  It was simple and fun!  Then when we returned to the room, we found rose petals on the floor, bed, and a bubble bath w/ rose petals!  It was pretty!!

RESTAURANTS- ALL of the food we had was very good!!  We had Schooners, Arizonaâ€s, Barefoot by the Sea, Marioâ€s, Kimonos, Sapodillas, Giuseppeâ€s, Reflections, Bobby Dâ€s, and Bella Napoli Pizzeria.  We had dinner at Barefoot by the Sea three nights because the atmosphere was really nice, since itâ€s right on the beach and you can watch the sunset.  I had pizza almost every day for lunch at Bella Napoli which is right in front of one of the pools.  The pizza was great!  They also had a jerk station (not sure that it had a formal name but thatâ€s what the sign said??) in front of the other Caribbean Village pool and we had some REALLY good fajitas there!  We had breakfast at Reflections every morning except for one, and they have literally anything you would want for breakfast!  SAPODILLAâ€S WAS THE BEST!!  You must dress up or they will turn you away (they turned us away b/c my husband had on khaki shorts, and they required long dress pants, so he had to go change clothes).  Their food and presentation of food kind of reminded me of a Ruthâ€s Chris or something.  The food was excellent, and hereâ€s a picture of their dessert….we told them it was our honeymoon…

Thatâ€s about it!  I hope I didnâ€t leave anything out!  Please do not stress about your trip- they will take care of EVERYTHING for you while youâ€re there!!  We had the best time, as did all of our guests!!  Please let me know if anyone has any questions!!

Sounds great. It looks like everyone has their own favorite eating places. Brandy recommended some and you recommended differnt places so I feel that no matter where we go to eat, it will be a winner. Thanks so much. The pics are beautiful. We'll be there soon.

We got married at 11am, so when we took our photos it wasn't too hot yet.  I did ask the photographer at one point to grab me a bottle of water because I was getting a little hot....but you're "in the moment" and you really won't notice it too much!

I didn't know that they allow you to do the reception so much later than the ceremony!! Did you do the 1 or 2 hour private reception? or did you just get everyone together at one of the restaurants?

I am having my ceremony at 3pm, and then having the two hour reception, but I'd love to have it later since no one would really want to eat dinner right at 3:30ish!

Thanks for any help on this!

What a beautiful wedding!  I enjoyed reading your review.  I'm getting married at the Beaches T&C February 2012.  Did you use the Beaches/Kodak photographers or Tropical Imaging?  Did you do the Beautiful Beginnings package? Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
