Beaches ~ Turks & Caicos Roll Call!

Recommended Posts

Hi Heather,

I got the info from my workout partner today.  She said you need to go to The Goldsmith in the Regent Plaza (across from the Salt Mills).  She said sometimes Royal Jewels has better deals but they are often out of stock and you would have to go downtown, which isn't touristy, fun or worth the cab ride.

She said to tell them Anna sent you (some people she knows have gotten discounts on occasion, not much but it all helps).

Her opinion (from her hubby) Get either the No 5 monte cristo or the No 4 monte cristo.  The number 4 is a medium size, the number 5 is a smaller size.  She said do not buy no 3.  They are more expensive (thus will be suggested by the goldsmith) and her hubby thinks they dry out too quickly and are not as nice.  So don't get the No 3!

Hope that helps!

There are 4 ladies that we see on a regular basis doing hair. (April, Brigett, Geraldine, Shenique)  Only 2 do make up. (Ann, Shenique), April can do make up but her make up selection is located at her shop vs being able to transport it. For large weddings they have all worked together on some occasions as well.

In no particular order....

Maximes....649-946-5093 Geraldine does hair and Ann (from Beauty and Beach day spa located in the shop) does Make-up. I don't have a website for them but have a pedicure scheduled with Ann next week so I'll check to see if they have gotten anything up yet.

April's Place...April's Place - Hair - Nails - Skin care on Providenciales Turks and Caicos Islands 649-941-3993 April does hair and has a girl that does manicures and pedicures.

Briget Wildt...bwildt@tciway.tc does hair (use to own Maximes and April worked for her when she first came on island...she now works from home, and does house calls)

Shenique (649) 245-5241 Sheque Does hair and make up

Full disclaimer here: April does my hair and has for years, Ann does my manicures and pedicures on island and I don't wear any make up. However....Geraldine and Bridget do the hair of many of my friends (and Geraldine does April's hair...LOL it's a VERY small island) I have seen loads of photos of Sheniques work and she does great work as well.

We work with all of these ladies, professionally and know them personally. For make up, Ann and Shenique both enhance someones beauty not take over and take a life of it's own.

For hair, they are all good and not over the top. They all work with a ton of different types of hair on island (the countries population is very international) as well as having to keep up with latest trends and styles. my sister lives in Atlanta and whenever she visits she books ahead to get April to cut her hair...I know others who plan vacations to get a touch up by Maxime or Geraldine.

You can check our blog and search with their names, and see some samples of make up/hair done by them, we try to give credit to them and to let brides see their work.

Hope that helps!

Hi ladies,

I have a few questions.

I have just hit my 3 month mark. I have not been able to get in touch with Monica (not happy with her at all) and she finally responded to an email of mine one week later and said that the date we rescheduled to speak is now taken and we can only speak on March 15, for 15 minutes, and my final payment is due on that date as well. So I was wondering if anyone can shed some light on exactly what must be paid for before we arrive at the resort.

  • theme? How many days prior?
  • reception? How many days prior? - we have about 60 guests booked so we'll probably do a buffet. Do they need to know exactly what we need or just a headcount
  • extras such as arch additions - we're doing the BB package, but I'll like to add the vision in white arch. Can I decide when I arrive on the island, or do I need to book now.

Other questions:

  • For the ladies who have just returned from their weddings - since we have a larger party - are we restricted to the sites we choose for the wedding and reception? I'd waivering between the beach and the gazebo.
  • Island activites - a few of you have mentioned ATV tours and conch shack - where can I find this information and can I book when we arrive?

Thank you!!!

This blog is absolutely wonderful!!!smile159.gif

I know the theme is due 60 days in advance....

Im 31 days out and havent paid for my 2 or 3 hour reception yet, she does want to have your final guest list though no later than 30 days before, she is supposed to be sending me a quote soon, I just emailed her my final guest list today, and I'll let her know what reception we decide on.... hope this helps

I also still have not scheduled or paid for my hair/make up appts or any type of entertainment yet

Wanted to pass this info along to all of you, if you haven't heard yet. You can now book the 5:30 sunset ceremony for only $600, not needing to do the $6000 package!
Where did you hear this? I spoke with Monica, and she said I still had to pay for the Island Paradise theme! If I could keep my time without having to spend the extra $6,000 that would be wonderful!

Hi lv1044,

I leave for Turks next Wednesday, and I have plans to do the Froggie ATV Tour and go to the Conch Shack, but these are things that I'm doing on my own. I will just call Froggie's once I get there to see what I need to do. As far as the Conch Shack, I just plan to go there and eat like any restaurant.

As far as where I found the information, I've had quite a few people tell me about the Conch Shack..and one of the past brides on the forum (Winnie) mentioned the Froggie ATV Tour in her review--and that's how I heard about it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
