TimsWife2Be- I struggled with the same thing. I have heard some not so great reviews on Beaches photography but want my family and the ceremony/reception to be in the pictures. I chose the 18 images on the CD, and hopefully if they come out good I will have the option to chose more. I'm not exactly sure if that will be the case though, and won't even bother asking Monica because I'm sure she won't get back to me until AFTER our wedding at this point! I'll keep you posted.. :)

Actually mine has changed.  I moved our date to October 21st, 2011.  To make a long story short, I started to panic!  Up until a few days ago, I still didn't even have my dress!!!  I was stressing and rushing and honestly, it is only me, FI, my daughter and my parents going so it really wasn't a major deal to push it a few months. Besides the normal wedding stress, I also had the unpleasant "ex" factor in there (this is my second marriage).  I feel much more relaxed now that I have more time and I can actually enjoy this planning process now.   Besides, now we get to stay 10 days instead of 7   Prices and availability are much better.  AND, when I was not expecting it, I found THE dress a few days ago.  Everything is falling into place now and I feel like I can truly look forward to my day.  The countdown begins... again!

Just to clarify, Beaches will allow outside photographers on property if a room is booked in their name for 3 or more nights.  We have had this happen in the past where a "lowest price" room has been booked for one of our photographers and that room has been used as a get together room/storage room etc or even for kids etc but it's in the TI photographer's name.  Because of that the photographer is then able to be on property and photograph the actual event on property and around the resort.  Obviously it's not the "least expensive option" but it is an option available for brides wanting another photographer other than Beaches staff.

You can do the calypso band for just an hour and its up to you when you want to have them play, but it would be best to do it for the last hour of the reception so they arent breaking down all their equipment while your in the middle of eating and everything, we couldnt decide when either so we just decided to have them for the entire reception.
