The Jewel Dunn's River Resort

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies,

I'm looking into the Jewel Dunn's River Resort and was wondering if anyone has any information on this location.  I know this resort is the former Sandals Dunn River.  I know they have kept most of the same staff and have seen good vacation reviews on trip advisor but I cant find any specific wedding information??

These posts are a little old..but I'll see if someone replies! My fiance an I are considering The Jewel for our wedding in June 2013. If anyone has any experience or reviews about that resort in general? I'm a little worried that no one has posted much of anything about this place. It looks beautiful!!

We are looking at the Jewel Dunn's River for October 2014. I would also love to hear some reviews as there isn't much out there.

Thank you thank you! It was an amazing experience! Sheika and her team are absolutely wonderful. They will do anything for you and are very attentive. We had the Platinum sunset package as we wanted to get married at 5pm. It includes everything that's listed in the package. You pick the location of your ceremony a few days before. They take you around and show you the options, etc. The beach option was nice, however, their beach is very narrow (especially as the tide comes in). We actually chose the boardwalk by the pool as we felt it had the most privacy for the ceremony. Well, it didn't matter that day as it rained and we ended up having our ceremony indoors at The Moonstone near the last minute! It was still very beautiful and they worked their butts off to get things organized at a different location last minute. My mom and sister helped me get into my dress. Sheika has a team she works with, I'm sure someone will be able to help you. As far as flowers go, there are some flowers that they are unable to get i.e. Gerber daisies. I had the tropical bouquet that was listed in the package and they were absolutely beautiful. I would ask Sheika for pictures. She'll help you out and answer your questions. Photography - When inquiring about photography from the resort, they only emailed me two or three pictures to show me their work. that was not enough for me to make a decision as photography was very important to us - it's all you have left! We actually hired an outside photographer - Brian Nejedly. He was absolutely fantastic. Here's his website: http://www.briandesign.com/. Even though we opted for an outside photographer, the Platinum package still included some photos from the resort (18 5x7 photos). So we actually had two photographers (we had no idea that they would still take pictures even though we had an outside vendor!). Our resort photographer Kevin did a good job. I would ask for him to do your photos if you can. Enjoy the planning process. Email Sheika about the details, she will any any question for you and is just FANTASTIC to work with. She really put us at ease. Please tell her Ashley said HI! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
