I'd be careful doing that JRM.  I imagine that whatever they give you for a day pass - maybe a different colored bracelet - will not look the same as a guest's.  Their whole thing is that they don't want you to bring in local, outside vendors.  On the other hand, it sounds like they've gotten a little more lenient with things since we started planning our wedding there.  Maybe they'll be okay with it.

Maybe do some research and see if the day pass is a normal guest bracelet (I can't imagine that it is or else you'd have people sneaking onto the resort and staying).  If it is the same thing, then you would probably be able to get away with just the day pass.

Hi ladies! I don't know why you haven't been able to confirm your venues but I was given a written (email) from my WC with my ceremony date and time as well as my reception venue in the bar Higuey for February 16, 2013. I also gave my 30% deposit so maybe that has something to do with it! She never said anything about the possibility of having to move because of a convention. You would think that she would mention that? Anyways hope everything works out for you ladies and I'll keep you posted of anything I find out!!!

hey ladies.  i'm not getting married @ barcelo, i'm getting married @ paradisus punta cana.  But...I do read most of the threads on Punta Cana weddings and photographers.  I'm 5 months away from my wedding and I booked HDC photos.  I really love their pics and videos, so I booked them for both.  I felt like their prices were competitive, and my resort's photographer's work paled in comparison to HDC.  I'm more than happy to post pics when November comes along.  But, when I was researching I did ALOT of you-tubing.  I was impressed everytime I saw HDC's video's.  Try you-tubing your photographer/videographer to get an idea of the finished product you'll be getting.

Hope that helps!

Hey sunny,

I actually asked Marlene before booking the DJ if it was OK...she said she had no problem if he was a guest and brought his own equipment and we had asked previously about day passes since I have family in DR who live in the area and might not stay at the hotel and she said that was allowed. Thanks for your concern though :-).

Oh, that's good that you asked her and she was cool with him being a guest.

My point was that if your agreement with Barcelo is that your DJ is a guest and staying at the resort, and you only buy him a day pass, it might be an issue if the day pass bracelet is noticeably different than the normal resort guest bracelet.  My suggestion would be to see if they are.

Hey ladies,

Something to keep in mind with the day passes, they are only valid until 6pm, and if you wish to have the dj, photographer, or whoever stay after 6pm it's another 50$.

I found this out because we have friends staying at a cheaper resort who want to come for the day, and for the 2 of them its going to cost $200 ($100 each) to be there for the wedding which is before 6pm and then for the dinner/reception which is obviously after 6pm....

Just something to keep in mind!!!

Sunny, did you have the Strawberry package? Did you have ti pay extra for the table linens?

I just got informed from Marlene that my new WC is Lianny - hoping to get quicker e-mail responses but I am sure that won't be happening!!

Sweet coco,

I knew they cost $50 but wasn't aware of the times they can be used. Thanks for the info!

TRivera- they said those cakes were included... but who knows, they might surprise us with hidden costs LOL. I'm trying to get prices on those photographers, I'll keep you posted!!!

also... I have more questions...

1. So the price for cocktail hour is $12 per person and this includes canapes and drinks? or just one drink?

2. What are the possible locations for the cocktail hour?

3. Does anyone know anything about the cake flavors? I asked them if I could do some cake tasting during my visit in August and they said no, only food tasting ($50 per person).

4. Do we need to book the DJ, tropical pictures and spa separetely? or do the WC take care of that? (assuming no outside vendors)

5. Has anyone boutgh favors already? any ideas?

Thank you everyone!!!

Disazaja,

I tried booked the spa as my wedding is in December, and they told me the spa will only book up to a maximum of 1 month ahead of time! Not going to lie I am a little worried about this because if there is more than 1 wedding per day, and the weddings are close together in time...not too sure how the spa will handle multiple bridal parties and families....not too mention the bridal room...if there is only 1...how are they going to split it???

Heard back from Lianny this morning, and good news is that the chair sash's and table cloths are included in the price....but the silver plates are not and ar $3 a plate...which made me kind of laugh!! I am sure the plain white plates will be just fine haha!!!

Does anyone know if once they give you the invoice if the deposit is due right away? I originally was going with the Min Breeze which didnt require a despoit, but now that I am doing the Starberry passion I have a 30% deposit due that I am not ready to pay right this second, so I am hoping they give a little bit of time to get it in!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
