It's going, waiting for the TA to give me my website with all the prices for my guests, our pictures and all their info so I can put the website on my STD ....then ready to order them from this vendor I found at the Bridal Expo.

Anyone find out any more about using HDC at our resort?  I'm so confused!!  Really want to book them but don't want to book and then be told "no way".  Thanks!
Every outside photographer I have spoken to tells me that the only real way to get around this is by paying for them to stay for at least a night or two at the resort, which is exactly what we're doing with whoever we decide to go with. Right now we're still deciding between Heather Prescott (that TRivera used and another bride on here is using) and Katya Nova, a couple who lives out in Punta Cana half the year. My WC, Aris, gave me a flat-out "NO" when I even hinted at flying someone else out there as my photographer or using someone else from out there.

Hi Everyone!

New here... My sister is getting married (or hoping to LOL) at the end of this January. I have been helping her plan what started out as a simple 'beach wedding' to what now has become a bigger undertaking than either of us expected! We have gone from Atlantis to Cuba to now Punta Cana, specifically BBPD - and reading this blog has certainly confirmed for me her choice in location. HOWEVER.. we have not yet heard back from a WC and would like to start booking the hotel/flights this week! I know, rediculous as it sounds, we are moving fast and have a lot to cover over the next week. So a confirmation of date would be nice. Quick question for you ladies (as you are all SO informative!): How are you getting your guests to book their rooms/flights? We were thinking of working with Air Canada Vacations (we're in the Toronto area), and they have a package sale on now with really attactive options - offered only until the end of October. The bright side is that most of the guests are immediate family so most booking can be done in one shot. Just not sure if the resort prefers booking through their website? Anyhow, any insight would be most helpful! Thanks!!

I received a reply from Aris and we are able to use an outside photographer we just have to pay the outside vendor fee. Although it is still cheaper to use hdc even with the fee! I'm booking hdc for the photography. They have been awesome to work with so far. Thanks for all your help everyone!

Wow, that changes everything. I'm a little upset she didn't offer that to me as an option when I asked. I'm still going to try to figure out some way around this. Thanks for letting us know!

Now, assuming that we were to use an outside vendor, like HDC, and pay the outside vendor fee, anyone know if we would still have to buy the photographers a day pass or something like that so they will be allowed onto the property? Assuming we're not paying for the photographer to stay overnight that is...

I assume the vendor fee should cover it!

I know the TA stuff takes some time, but it's good that it's going :) I didn't have to e-mail TP the spanish version of my question because I asked my WC if she can just help me book TP or how does the deposit work, and she replied that I don't need a deposit at all and that we can just sit down togeter with TP when I arrive, so I'm going her route. If I can wait to pay them later why not?! I just don't know why TP was asking me for 30% deposit prior to arrival.

I didn't really ask if it was an option. In my emailed I just stated that I would be using an outside photographer. Not sure if that approach would work for you or not. I'm also thinking that the vendor fee should cover the day pass!
Haha, serves me right for trying to be nice and actually ask for permission first. Thanks again!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
