Hi disazaja I'm not sure about how exactly I'm taking my dress. I guess as my carry on. When I book my flight I'm going to call and see if I can keep it upfront so I don't have to sqoosh it uptop above the seats :(. As for my hubby he wants to wear a dark beige suit for ceremony and pictures but is taking jacket off for reception. The groomsmen will not have the jackets.

I just wanted to share the info I recieved about the residency requirement. My TA says there is no legal residency requirement for the Dominican republic the resorts set their own residency requirement so they have time to meet with you. Saturdays and Sundays do not count bc the WC is busy with weddings. She spoke to marlene and asked. My wedding is a Saturday and I am arriving on a Wednesday and she said that wouldn't be a problem. I guess just call to double check for what day you wanted to arrive.

Yea definately double check, because I got my information from the consulate and sometimes judges give people a hard time for the smallest details.  I didn't use a TA for my wedding or vacation so I had to do all the research myself. Saturdays are considered business days in DR so it doesn't make sense about when the WC have weddings. To my knowledge they have weddings all week. My wedding was  on a Thursday and I arrived the Saturday. There are websites that definitively tell you residency requirements for each country. i.e Italy's is a MONTH lol. One of the ones I checked out was Islandbrides.com. Take all the info, do your research and good luck on your big day!

I am planning on carrying mine on. I know there is a "closet" in the front where first class passengers hang their jackets, and it is closed and right by the flight attendants area so safe....but if not flying fc you may need to call ahead and see if that is a possibility and if not what else they do offer, but I know that the resort and many wedding sites say do NOT put it in the luggage and always carry it on.

Does anyone know if there is a steamer at BBPD though?

As for the groomsmen that is totally up to my FI - who so far has said 1-Gray and 2- He will be buying their shoes as a groomsmen gift.

Right now I am booked for a civil wedding...but we wont find out the time of the ceremony until 2 weeks prior and it could end up being anywhere from 11am to 6pm...so i am considering getting married at home before - but my mom really wants me to do it "for real" in the DR but between the paper work and not knowing the time...I am really second guessing this!!

thoughts?!?!

We are getting married before to avoid the hassle of the paperwork, etc. I was a little worried about this too, but as my FI said we just will not tell anyone, and will every year celebrate our real anniversary as the day we got married in DR. Just ask the WC if you do a symbolic can you add in passages or things that you may have wanted with the judge.

Hey girls,

K, i haven't commented in awhile, so i've had a lot of questions building up, so forgive me :)....

First- an FYI- I just bought my dress and the salesperson said that she has had a lot of brides that have had no problem stowing their dress in the captains closet. She said they do some sort of treatment to the dress so that wrinkles are easily releasible, but not sure about that. But she did say if the resort doesnt not offer steaming service for the dress that she has had people just turn the shower up really hot and hang their dress up in the bathroom with the door shut and the wrinkles fall out.

Also, we're getting married here and then doing a symbolic ceremony, were not advertising the part where we're technically married : ) But we want our friend, who is a minister, to marry us there...does anyone know if that would be a problem.

Is the rooftop an option for a ceremony site?

And, has anyone shipped anything to the hotel? I am going to be bringing a lot of stuff for OOT bags and decorations, etc and im worried it will be too stressful to check all those bags.

Anyone that has gotten married at BBPD in the past year or two, would you mind sharing a link to your wedding photography page if it's up so we can see how it all came together?

Also, anyone done their reception on La Baracaza recently? We're doing ours there and I'm so excited!!

k, i think that does it. Thanks girls!

Well I'm a photographer, last year two brides traveling with me asked the flight attendants took care of their dresses for the flight, they were very courteous and took the dresses to what appear to be a closet . In the other hand, I doubt that They are going to allow anything from a passanger travel in the cockpit. However you should contact your airline carrier to get advice in regards of that. =]

Hi Coty

Having someone you know marry you is not a problem. I just went over this with the resort through my TA and they said that is just fine.

I think another bride on this forum just requested the rooftop for her ceremony, so I would just ask and see. It is a beautiful spot.

My TA is going with us to the resort so she is taking some of my decorations for me, but I think the hotel allows one box, but you have to request it.

Hope that little bit helps.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
