Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe

@@Soon2beJara hi! Black with hints of red n gold. That's actually what I am a really stressed about. I have the tangerine package and I absolutely hate the centerpieces that come included. I have family that live in dr, I have considered shipping my centerpieces but I am afraid that things might break. Another factor in worried about is shipping it back. My reception will be in the semi outdoor location (sorry I don't know the name it was sort of a last minute change after family members went to look the resort for me and hated the reception location I chose, the ballroom). I am hoping to do research so I can bring in my own speaker. Their dj got bad reviews and I can't justify paying 500$ for their system. For my centerpieces I want to have some table with tall cylinder vases and some tables with manzanita branches.

So looks like we have some in common. I am doing everything white & Gold. plus some green (Green Palms).

I got the tangerine package as well & I am actually having the reception in the banquet hall. I really wanted to have it somewhere in the AC and also wanted people to be able to dress up with long dresses and heels so I felt the ballroom was the best choice for me. The Ceremony I am having on the chill out roof top.

What color are you doing for sashes on the chairs? I want gold. and i am pretty annoyed that I have to pay per sashe because gold is not one of the included colors.

Also for the center pieces .. I felt the same way. I did not like the ones that were included in the package and all the others were very expensive. I was going to pack a suitcase and bring them with me. I think if you wrap it up very good it should not break. But then I tried one more time with my wedding coordinator if she could work with me on some more reasonable prices and we were able to reach an agreement. So now I'm doing center pieces through the hotel for 40 each. Its just one cylinder with big palms. It still a little expensive but at least i do not have to stress about it anymore.

For the Dj, I heard good things about him so I'm including that as well.

let me know about the sashes & good luck with the rest of your planning!

I am also having my ceromony on the rooftop . We fell in love with the location. Can u believe they don't have black sashes will have to buy those as well. It's funny because I called my wc and told her that I saw that centerpieces were $40 per table and she was like no that's something you have to talk to me about directly, centerpieces are not $40 per table. Because I was trying to talk her into giving me a better deal. She said she would email me , no response yet. When she does I will keep you posted. And I agree it's no fun stressing! I actually already bought all my centerpieces because I planned on having a celebration in our town and reusing the decor. Good luck to you too!

Hi ladies!
My day is getting closer! July 29. My wedding coordinator was Laura but it seems that she left, now I have Nicole. I contacted the make up artist that eri9384 mention before. I'm making arrangements for her to come to the resort, she also has friend that does hair. I'm not sure how much she charges but I'm pretty sure is cheaper than the resort. I opted to bring my own center pieces. I made them myself. I will also be bringing my own photographer, is way cheaper. I just have to pay for her staying and the flight. She will be taking pictures at the rehearsal dinner, the wedding day and a family session with my family. At no extra cost. I'm in the processes of putting together the welcome bags and thank you gifts.I'm so nervous I hope I'm not forgetting anything! Any suggestions of what I might need.

@@Reign14 Thanks so much for your review!!!! So happy to hear that everything went great and you enjoyed your wedding & stay at the resort! I feel like i have so many questions but the only ones I can think of right now are these....

1. Did you do any sort of welcome bags or welcome Party? 2. You got the centerpieces from the resort correct? were you happy with them? were they worth all the extra money? 3. did you do a rehearsal dinner?

Also I would love to see some pictures!!.

Thank you!!

I am about 3 months away & starting to freak out!

I did do welcome bags. My MIL and SIL made them. We had our welcome reception at Bar Carey which is the perfect location for it, and they handed them out there.

I did decide to use the resort's centerpieces and I was extremely pleased with how they turned out.  I chose one of the more reasonable priced ones and it was gorgeous. So glad I went that route instead of trying to DIY. It would have been too much added stress on top of everything else I had to do. It was about $45 per table and we had 5 tables so it wasn't outrageous. Worth it IMO.

I did a rehearsal dinner at the Santa Fe Steakhouse. A reservation for up to 20 in a private area is included in the package. It was perfect. I don't think you can get a reservation for 20 or a private room at any other restaurant on the resort.

For some reason I can't figure out how to attach pictures on here, but here is a link to my pinterest board with photos of all the details.

Enjoy!

Hello Everyone! Hope everyone is having "FUN" Wedding planning.

I'm currently looking into makeup artiest and hair stylist. I have about 10 girls including myself that need to have hair & make up done.

I'm thinking about the resort salon but still waiting on their prices...

or I was hoping to maybe find someone locally and having them come (Hopefully with a team since were 10) to my room and having everything done there. I think i would have to pay for a half a day pass per person that I hire but maybe this would be a cheaper option then the resorts salon. I  do not want to have to leave the resort with that many people then have to come back and all get dressed.

so if anybody knows anyone in the punta cana area who does make up or has heard of services like the one i'm looking for please let me know!!!!

i'm open to ideas !

Thanks ladies ;)

@@Soon2beJara Hi I will be using a make up artist name Cynthia recommended by one of the ladies that got married back in August 2015. She is charching so cheap!!! more than half of what the resort is charging. I don't even pay does prices in NY! I got in touch with her already and she will be coming to the resort, There is the option to go the Spa 10 minutes from the resort where she works at, but I don't want to be running around that day. She is also bringing a hairstylist, who will do my girls' hair and the flower girl.  Email cynthiacabrera_23@hotmail.com and her wassup is (809) 608-1892.  She is from New York!

@Soon2beJara

Look back at my posts and you will see some before and after pics I posted of the makeup artist. If you cant find them message me and I will email them to you.

I carried a ton of stuff to DR with me and saved a bunch of money. One thing in particular were the colored napkins. The hotel was charging $3 a napkin for 80 people which would have been $240 but I bought 100 for $45 at www.Linentablecloth.com

check them out maybe they have what you are looking for. In my opinion taking the sashes is not nearly as bad as taking the centerpieces yourself, which I also did

I purchased a bunch of stuff online and surprisingly enough everything matched perfect. I left enough time so that I can order and return if I needed to, but i didn't need to return anything I bought.

Hi ladies! I am new to the forum and recently decided with my fiancé to get married at Barcelo Bavaro. We went once before a few years ago and decided this was the place. We are planning December 2017. I emailed the resort wedding coordinator a week ago and haven't heard back. It is amazing to read all the feedback. Just a little nervous to be planning a wedding in a place so far without being able to see things etc

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
