Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe

Sorry I haven't been on the boards lately. She quoted that to me via email, which is what I copied and pasted. The price increase could be due to the fact that you're wedding is next year and they always increase the price for each package and the extras every year. Sorry I can't be of much more help....if she does quote me $12 later on when it comes down to paying for everything, I have the email as back-up...

Have you already paid for your cocktail hour? She has charged me $12.00 per person for the cocktail hour, not $10?? Although its only $2.00 it adds up when your talking 30-40 people. Can you please send me whatever she sent you with the $10 per person quote or invoice? That would be super helpful?! Our wedding isnt til May of next year so I have time to adjust however I have already prepaid 30% of the tangerine package, DJ and cocktail hour.

sunny-you're review was a breath of fresh air, you're pictures look beautiful CONGRATS again and THANK YOU for your invaluable insight into the crazy world of Marlene and BBPD WCs

T-Dawn- I wired the money to their Florida account

busybride- They really do nickel and dime you...it was quite frustrating considering the fact that Marlene was appalled during my site visit when I told her about all the little things that Paradisus charges for but are at least upfront about it...she joked and said 'they'd probably charge you for breathiing' when in fact I feel like she's doing the same thing. But keep in mind, a destination wedding is still about 20% less than a local wedding, especially here in the states.

ncordero6504- I wasn't satisfied with Marlene being the mediator between us and the DJ so I actually hired DJ Mannia, whom has never played before at their hotel, and am paying for their day passes to they can have access to the resort. I feel more comfortable knowing that they're going to be DJing considering their great reviews; they are costly though...4 hours is $900.

Hope this helps ladies!

Ncordero-

Hi! For invitations I won't be sending those out until about three months before the wedding.  But so that guests have a big heads up in order to plan I would send Save the Dates about 9-12 months in advance...a fun idea that alot of brides do is use the save the dates to lead people to a website which you will have set up that outlines the resort, things to do, travel information and your travel agents info if you are using one. Many use that site to highlight things like where you met, when he proposed, etc. For my save the dates I am using special designed luggage tags that can be used if they want.  Atleast in my case, most guests appreciate the heads up so they can make payments rather than just paying for the whole thing right away.
Hope this helps!

Hi I'm having my wedding in September 2012 at Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe...I would love to see how they set up the Reception Area, all I've received so far are the beach set up, but not the Reception area ? Also I booked the Strawberry Passion Package, does this include the DJ etc...I have so many questions, because when I e-mail them it takes them 2 to 3 days to get back to me =( and I want to make sure I don't miss anything...any information you can provide me would be great...pictures would be good to so I can get an idea of what to expect...and if you have any suggestions please feel free to tell me...Thank You! Hey Julissa,

Congrats!!! Every this thread has all of the pics and answers that we have so far. I know I posted every picture that I got in the thread. And Sunny just came back from her wedding and included a very detailed review. The DJ does not come with the Strawberry package. That is the package that we are going with as well. It's still up in the air as far as which DJ we will be using.

Hey everybody!! Congratulations to everyone on their engagements and weddings :) This is the first time I've ever joined a forum and I am super excited to have found this because I feel lost with all the wedding planning. I actually went to the Barcelo this past January 2012 and fell in love! Without a doubt we chose the perfect resort for our weddings :) My wedding is tentatively for October 2013(Columbus Day weekend), so I have some time to really plan. I am having a Catholic wedding in their chapel, with the cocktail hour in their open space on their second floor. I, like most of the brides, wanted the Bar Higuey, but my guest list is more than 85people and apparently if its more than 85 it has to be in a ballroom or on the beach. And there's no way I am going to the Caribbean for a ballroom wedding, so the beach it is. The wedding coordinator I met with no longer works at the Barcelo, so now I am really lost! As if I didn't feel lost already wacko.gif If anyone has any information or has had a Catholic wedding at the Barcelo I would super appreciate some feedback, recommendations, advice etc...Thanks!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
