I have a few questions about some things... So the DJ, what are people doing? We were thinking of using the Ipod dock and just setting up the music in order on that. Can anyone send me an updated list of what the DJ options are?

Also, pictures and video, I'm so indecisive on what to do for those. I know I'm going to use TP because I have no one else who's a professional that I can bring or hire down there. I always watch people's videos on youtube and I love love loveee videos of people getting ready and the extra stuff people do with their video, but I don't know if they'll get what I want. That's why we were also going to have a girl video tape all of the girls getting ready and a guy for all of the guys getting ready.

How about the food... can we do buffet? I was thinking that might be the best option for people, but that also depends on how much that'll cost.

I just have no idea what I should be deciding or thinking about right now. Any help would be greatttt! Thanks and good luck to all the BBPD brides!!!

Check out DJ Mannia, a friend of mine had him at her wedding and said he was great and they also MC. Check out their reviews and ask your wedding planner because they are affiliated somehow. Let me know how it goes since that's my next step, I'm trying to get all the hiring on a list and go step by step and cross it off! haha

Good Luck

We are just setting up an ipod for our music.  There is a really neat app called Wedding DJ that I have on my i phone.  It lets you set up all the music you want for different parts of the wedding day.  So you would make your playlist for the cocktail hour and add it to that section then just have someone hit play.  Then you would add your first dance song and just hit that and it will play that song for you.  Saves someone searching for songs.  Hope that gives you another option.  I find the price of the DJ to be super expensive and we have a small group (23 right now) going and not many of those people are huge dancing people.  So for us i think it wouldn't be worth paying for the DJ.

Hello to all the brides-to-be on this forum! I have been reading up on this thread before deciding to e-mail BBPD about a DW there and finally joining the forum! I already have a question. LOL. I e-mailed bavaro.bodas@barcelo.com and I think the other e-mail bavaro.weddings@barcelo.com about 2-3 days ago and have not gotten a reply. I'm really looking forward to starting off the planning process bu setting my wedding date. Any advice on how to contact the WC without looking like a bridezilla? LOL. Thank you all for the help. I'm getting so many great ideas just reading all your posts!

Waiting on the completion of my invites that I am having custom made, hoping to have them sent out in August. I found my gown a couple of weeks ago and now working on the rest of the bridal party. Right now I'm also focusing on figuring out what I can use to make my own centerpieces. Aris sent me samples of what they have as far as centerpieces go, and I was NOT impressed, way over priced. Also hoping to start buying stuff for my OOT bags while all the summery stuff is still available!

How about you?

Omg I am way behind from you all! Lol.  We've done our rough draft of our Formal wedding invites and hoping to have them sent out mid-september.  I start wedding dress shopping next saturday.  I have 2 appoinments booked.  I have an idea of what I want, just hoping it looks good on!  What are you plans for your centrepieces?  I sent Marlene pictures of what I want my reception to look like.  I really want to use the Tiffany's chair for my reception... but I cant believe they are $12 a piece to rent!! thats ridiclous if you ask me!

Hi Sagesma,

Congratulations on your wedding! I don't like the centerpieces either but at $50 per table to upgrade, I think I'm going to keep them. Anyways....

Marlene was also my WC until I called the resort today and learned that she no longer works there. She was taking forever to reply to my email so I wanted to get on skype to track her down. If you haven't been notified, I suggest you email to get your WC replaced and get back in track. i'm sorry for the sad news, I was so upset...

Good luck with your dress shopping!!

The stuff adds up quickly and do you really want to pay extra baggage fees and the hastle of carrying it? On the other hand, I'm curious how expensive it will be to ship boxes to DR. Keep us posted if you find out anything!

There are a few shipping companies in the Philadelphia area that ship directly to DR. It cost between $60-70 for a big box depending on weight and $100 for a drum. It does take a few days to get there though. If you live near a hispanic community, there might be something similar. If not, then now you have a ball park figure of how much it might cost to ship to DR.

Hi brides! I'm new to this forum but have read quite a bit of it. Congrats to all BBPD brides and thank you for all your insight. This forum helped me to decide to have the wedding at BBPD. Anyway, I was wondering for the brides who used a travel agent, how did you find a good one and if you can give me some names or groups of good TAs, and for those who didn't use a TA, how did you get the best deals for your guests. When Susana sent me the attachments on the first e-mail there was an e-mail link to sac9.op? Did anyone use that TA? Thank you very much!

Hey PinkSolaire-

I am shocked about Marlene....She is/was my WC and had no idea! Who did you email at the resort to get a different WC?

Who is the best WC at BBPD?

One more think to worry about! Thanks for the heads up!

Laurie

Thanks for the information! I may just end up paying the extra baggage fee of a suitcase and not having to worry about it!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
